Help with searching on rinkya
i try to type in B't X cel to see some of the artwork and i get a result saying "Query failed". Anyone know why?
when i first started using Rinkya's search engine I had problems finding cels from YYH. I had to try many different combinations YuYu Yu Yu Yuu Yuu, YuuYuu... Hakusho. Only one of the combinations worked to bring up artwork from the show. Now I just search for Hakusho Cels. >_>
Have you tried different combinations of B't X... BtX Bt X... maybe the japanese name? (sorry not sure if that is the actual japanese name or not, so don't be mad) Maybe just search for X cels? sure it will bring up the Clamp in the results to choose from, but you may just find what you are looking for as well.
Also, some things don't have just specific, cel/genga to look at. Like when I look for JinRoh, Outlaw Star, Kikaider... I have to look through all the items relating to those shows to find the artwork.
I don't know if I'm any help, but thats my experience with Rinkya search so far.

Email Rinkya to add the search for you. It helps if you can send a URL to some information about the series or an example of an auction (let's say you stumble upon an auction for a Bt'x cel, show them that). Links to the Anime News Network pages help too because that site includes the kanji for the Japanese name for most series as well. Also be sure to tell them you want cels from that series, not just a general item search.
Edit: Ah, Graymouser beat me to it.

No problem.
I didn't do anything fancy. I looked at the name B't X and figured the rarest letter of the three would be X. If I looked under B or T the list of items/shows containing those letters would be a lot longer.
The other thing is that B, the first letter, is close to the begining of the alphabet. I knew it had to be close to the begining of the X list. I just had to forward past all the adult rated stuff to get to the B's.

On kind of a side note, I think I know why you got the "query failed" result.
The apostrophe is often used in coding web pages so you can't directly use it when typing text in designing a web page. When I want to use an apostrophe in the text of my web page I have to use a code for it instead. For my web site I use the UTF-8 code system so when I want to write about a sword that belongs to Inu Yasha I have to type Inu Yasha’s sword instead of Inu Yasha's sword.
Rinkya uses iso-8859-1 character coding to do the same thing. If you want to look up ' then you need to use '. In practice, very few people would bother to learn the character coding to look up something on Rinkya, so if you use the #&39; you will get "no results found" (instead of "query failed").
BTW you have to include the ; at the end of the code like I did. I didn't highlight the ; in red to avoid browsers changing the character code for apostrophe to an apostrophe.
OK, I'm bored and just rambling. Don't mind me.
