Offers you have recieved.. Vs. Price you paid..

Post by EternityOfPain »

The title may be a bit confusing but because you can't write a paragraph as a title I tried to sum it up the best I can. Basically, I have talked to several individuals where as how they have recieved offers of as much as 2 times the price they paid so today it just came to me to create a thread.

1) list the link of a certain cel/genga/etc.
2) Then tell us how much over (that price you paid) someone offered for that certain cel/sketch/etc and you still have not sold it. 2x 3x etc. IF you want to be specific dollar values are welcome however being general is fine also (general meaning 2 times, 3 times etc the price verses actual values)

Because i have not obtained any offers I really can't add anything but am interested in what others have encountered thus i made the thread.

Paid $350, offered $2000. Sorry - not enough to make
me want to sell it. Still my favorite cel.

Once bought a cel for $15. Sold it for $2000. I've done this many times on many cels.

Not going to list specifics, cause the buyers wouldn't like me posting their money situation everywhere ^^;!

I think I've only received one offer that was higher than what I paid. That offer was roughly twice as much as I had paid for it. In that case I sold it. I can't go into details on that one since it's not my cel no more. 8)

April 2002 I was offered $150 for my Mahou Tsukai Tai Akane cel:

But since I paid like $270 for it (including the shipping), that was a no go. :D

I grew up with the attitude of you don't talk money so I'll not post actual amounts. I know we're all cel collectors here but if you don't actually know how much I paid for something, odds are I won't tell you.

I had an offer once for an Omi cel of mine. Omi is my favorite character from WK so he's hard to pry from my hands. The offer was 3 times what I paid and I turned it down. That cel still resides in my gallery and I've not regretted it once. :)

Well...there was a time in cel collecting where prices were at a premium. Things that you woulda' been able to buy cheap many years ago and sell it for huge premiums here in the states. Now, I'm lucky to get what I paid for something...If that.

Some things will still sell for a lot of money and bring in a profit...But I still haven't seen profits like I did in the late 90's....

Those were the days...

Well, there are a couple that I have been offered more than what I paid for it. This one is the biggest of all thus far.

I was offered well over $3500 for this one. Would not sell it though. It is one of my absolute favorite pieces.

I have been offered quite a sum for a few other pieces, but the Fullmetal Alchemist hankens in my gallery always get the highest offers for them. Then, it would be the Inuyasha cels and Naruto section.

I don't get many offers ... but I have gotten a few that were higher than what I paid.

I once got an offer of 3 times what I paid for this cel: Flashback Kurei (Flame of Recca)

I once got an offer of twice what I paid for this cel: Fangy D

I once got an offer of twice what I paid for this rilezu: Aya Gluhen Rilezu

In each case, although the offers were very generous, and the people making the offers were extremely polite and kind, I just could not part with the cels. Each piece is too special to me, and I can't bring myself to sell them. Which, probably, is why I hardly ever get offers. :D /swt

Hmmm...I very rarely get offers on things. Except for when I hold an offer period, that is. :shrug

I've never received monetary offers for my cels before--just inquiries. Maybe if they had offered me money, I might have sold. Depending on the offer, of course.

I received offers of 6 1/2 times what I paid for a Transformers G1 cel. I have since hid it in my gallery. I've never sold anything people ask about, but I'm never offended by people asking either. In general tho, I don't sell cels or look for quick turn over by buying and selling. I'm just not into that kind of collecting. But it never hurts to ask fellow collectors if they are willing to part with certain things because you never know.
