It's interesting to read abt your different approaches to cel collecting. For me, selling existing cels to fund a wishlist cel can be difficult as I don't have many cels to begin with. And as I tend to be selective, these cels are pretty much meant to be kept in the collection.

I agree that ultimately one must still enjoy the hobby and not suffer (in the bad way) for it. My fear is that the amt I paid takes away the joy of owning the cel....I don't want to look at the cel and all I can think abt is how much I spent on it X|

Nice idea, Zombiebunny, maybe I shd just sell my bf. Problem solved. :D

Sensei, that certain collector is just evil. If I were you, I'd remember his bidding IDs, keep a lookout of cels he likes and give him a taste of his own medicine.

Aernath, you can come and visit my gallery any time u want  And I definitely know where to go to see cels/ sketches of dishy men. You shd really animate Ichigo doing his sit ups :P

I suspect he's POed more people than me. I see Japanese bidders play evil games with him on YJ. The most diabolical is to nibble up to his high bid and then stop, making him eat his entire reserve. Sadly, he has more money than sense or taste, or else I'd trade him the cel in question in a second, if he had something to offer that was of equal quality.

Dunno about other people, but when I look at cels I own, I see cels, not money. I love what I have, and that's what counts. If I don't, or if I fall out of love, it's gone with no regrets.

How far would I go? All the way! :D I'd do anything it takes that still allows me to sleep at night. Of course, that doesn't mean I haven't seen some pass me by. Sometimes I'm just not quick enough.

I'm also one of those people who looks at my collection and sees beautiful artwork from my favorite animes - not money.
Can you hear this fangirl squee?!

I would do anything that doesn't (1) put me in debt, or (2) deplete my entire collection.

I've passed on more than one "wishlist" cel, simply for lack of funds. I've found that in the cel world, a little patience usually pays off. You'd be surprised at the turn-over in the community. If you wait long enough, the item usually turns up for sale again.

I have actually just completed payment on my MOST EXPENSIVE item I have ever paid for. It was one of those wishlist items that I never even dreamed of wanting because I assumed it was way too impossible to find. I paid about 5 times more than I initially offered the person too, which, honestly, I do not regret for one moment. Although, I am broke and will be living off of Ramen soup until May, it was very well worth it because I really love this hobby. This item will arrive in less than 2 weeks. I cannot wait1 Eeeep!

How far would I go? 52 bids. That is my all time record for slugging it out with one of my arch-rivals until he/she finally gave up. :hurt:

But like sensei says, when I see my collection I don't see money. It's stuff I love and plan on keeping for a long time.

How did you know that?

The Three Laws of Robotics:
1. A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

The only thing i've done for a wishlist so far is open up a PayPal Buyers Credit account, and slowly pay back the money.... Although my total for that cel, isn't any where NEAR what some people have paid for a cel. I have no regrets spending that much money on him, and I'd do it again in a heart beat.
