Wooden frames are ok...right?
I recently received a cel that came with a wooden frame. I was thinking of removing the cel, but it just looks so nice that I didn't have the heart to separate it. If I keep it in will it damage the cel more than if I had kept it in a cel book?

If the glass is UV protective, then the cel should be fine. If the cel was framed by a fellow collector, then chances are it was done properly. Most of us know roughly what should be done with fine art and professional framers are eager to assist. It's always best to hang framed pieces out of direct sunlight and in a well shaded spot or room.

Even UV glass won't protect from direct light! Remember that!
Also It shouldn't be that hard to remove if you want to!

In a room of framed cels... I would put plastic opaque film to diffuse the light.

Wood frames are fine, avoid moist
All the hanken cels I brought from AIC are in wood frames. I keep most of them in boxes and in closet. The key is to make sure where you store them is cool and dry but not overly dry. Wherever you would store your wine bottle will be the ideal place for cel.
Depending upon the season, Tokyo or Osaka (two places you would get most of the cels from) can be humid and hot. So I will open all the framed cels I received from Japan for a day or two to let the moist out and let the wood frame settle.
