Feelin good

Post by blueheaven »

I lost about 30 lbs. last year, and got back some of my muscle tone through diet and exercise. This year, it's the big push. My goal is 50 lbs. by the end of the year and an increase in muscle density. To help, I started Nutrisystem a few weeks back. So far, I must tell you, I like it. The food is pretty good. It doesn't need refrigeration. It's delivered to you every month. And, it is flexible. Add to that, my recent purchase of an exercise bike, sleep number king size bed, and daily use of the supplement Lipovox, and I am actually feeling pretty damn good these days.

So, what are you doing this year to make yourself feel better? It doesn't have to be exercise, either.

What a great thread!

I've done a few things to change how I feel, all with very positive results. To help me sleep, I've started taking 5-HTP at night. Sometimes the dogs will bark in the middle of the night or early in the morning, but with this supplement, I'm able to doze right off again. Before, if I woke up, I'd have to lie there for a while. Not a pleasant feeling.

Another thing I'd recommend, especially for men, is DHEA. It improves mood and decreases insulin resistance. We also take a multitude of vitamins. Living together has improved our health overall because we're able to eat in everyday, commute less and be happy together.

I also started a new job. I was forced to give up a job I had a strong love/hate relationship with and it kind of devastated me. I ended up missing it much more than I thought I would, especially the money! Now I'm paid less but having fun. :)

Brian sounds like you doing really well. Losing 30 pounds is a really great accomplishment in a year. Congrats to you!

I've been trying since december 2004 to lose more weight but been stuck since. I can't seem to lose anymore.
I lost between 2001 and 2004, 20 pounds my just walking everyday, and then another 30 pounds in 2004 when I went on a diet (and excersise walking daily continued) that worked great but gave me health issue that I now have to live with (anybody that cares do NOT do low carbs you get cholesterol and can end up with a heart attack), but for some reason no matter what I try I can't lose the rest of 30 pounds that was my goal.
I can't use any of those foods and diet pills and such due to a health problem of mine so all has to come off natural with eating right and excersising. I am on a bike every single day for over an hour and do abs, legs and such everyday as well. Haven't lost a pound or inch no matter what I try. I can't eat certain foods and so basically I'm watching three different diets at the same time. One for health, one for diet and another for health. Cant' have sodium either so usually those food packs are made with lots of sodium.

To make myself feel better, I keep excersising and eating the RIGHT WAY. ^_^ I wont give up!

Hey maybe we can cheer eachother on so we both keep going Brian. ^_^

Oddly enough I was just speaking of this subject with Kata a week or so ago. In the later part of 2006 I had finally sought the much needed help for an eating disorder I have had for the most part of my life. I had tried before on my own but when I did gain, not knowing how to cope with it I would always regress. Sadly regressing to an even worse state than I when I started trying. This time I am actually eating right and have been keeping my weight stable, with much needed help and support.

So blue, I congratulate you for your better health and best wishes for your continued success!!

That was a long time ago.

That's awesome, otakusin. People think that gaining or losing weight is usually a vanity issue. For me, I am doing it for no other reason than I don't want to die before I am 40. We place so much pressure on people to be a certain way, when we should be focussing on health and happiness.
