Yes I was almost scared to write that reply because I have had several say "Oh geez, I wish I had that problem" but they do not realize it is literally a living hell. I started it when my parents divorced at age 13, it was a way to cope and feel in control. As I grew older I came to rely on that for coping with stress, over time it grew progressively worse.

I think that is the only way for someone to really change, vanity is just not enough motivation. I am so thankful I finally listened to my body, it was and had been telling me I had to stop or I was going to die from it. It was taking a toll, not only on my health but my happiness.

We have no choice here as to whether 2007 will bring change, but we don't know in what direction yet. We are goinfg to have to soon choose between living in one of 2 dilapidated houses and fix it up. Some money towards repairs will be available through an insurance settlement that we should recieve soon. My goal is not to see this money frittered away on little things, but fix up the house we decide to keep so it is structurally sound and reasonably comfortable.

In addition we are trying to change the direction of our small business. Not sure exactly where it will go yet. Still exploring.

As for health, I intstituted an exersize regimen last year. I bought a treadmill and both my daughter and I use it. My kid's body self-image has greatly improved after she began to tone up and she has become pretty enthusiastic. We generally excersize to anime episodes. This allows me to both stay in shape and keep up on my anime-watching! We have it set for a pretty high incline so we can burn 300 calories in 24 minutes.

Blueheaven it sounds like you are going about your diet in a sensible way. SOMEONE here (who also won't use the treadmill) keeps going on fad diets and losing weight then falling off them, eating junk food while out in his car and gaining it all back. He still thinks the Atkins diet is the way to go, even though he developed a kidney stone the last time he stayed on it for a long time. His chloresterol level sucks too. You would think he would learn after seeing both parents have heart attacks and his father go through a quadruple by-pass, but I can't MAKE him take care of himself. *sigh*

Hey Bri! Great accomplishment! I know you'll hit your target in no time.

As for me, having a brand new baby daughter has definitely made my health a priority. I try to ride the old exercise bike and my wife is helping me eat better.

Another side benefit is that lugging a baby seat with baby in it tones the arms pretty well. Heck, just holding the baby in my arms hours on end does the trick as well.
