Aw, we don't have any extras on the UK release.
I think I'd like to see a new vice over for it personally. It's the singing... it's painful. haha.
I remember watching it as a child, only when it got to the whole "now that I'm a womaaaaaan" everything really did change as I don't remember much of that. Must have lost interest. It's like a blank spot between unicorn shots. I don't know if I blocked it out of my memories or if I was only interested in the animal shots, but a new voice over might be good. *nods*

it's not like the german release at all! only the dvd cover is the same... the special features are WAY better, and it has been entirely remastered. a good friend of mine worked real hard on this dvd so it's easily an amazing release and worth the wait. i've been chomping on the bit to get my copy.wELCOME cONSUMER wrote:I'm glad they did this. Would it have been that hard to take the German source material in the first place?Ah well.
please please please everyone buy it from this link and support peter s beagle!!...

Compare that to a bad friend of his or hers worked real hard on this dvd so it is easily an amazing release and worth the wait.

The Three Laws of Robotics:
1. A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

That's really cool. I was under the impression that it was simply the German release. I was going to buy it either way, but knowing there's additional features and it's actually been remastered just sweetens the deal. What did your friend do?Caroline wrote:it's not like the german release at all! only the dvd cover is the same... the special features are WAY better, and it has been entirely remastered. a good friend of mine worked real hard on this dvd so it's easily an amazing release and worth the wait. i've been chomping on the bit to get my copy.wELCOME cONSUMER wrote:I'm glad they did this. s'ok! there may be some similarities to the german release, but i did hear about the great deal of work that was put into this one... especially into the remastering and sound. from my understanding, she helped put the entire project together! and thank goodness lionsgate decided to re-release the dvd, because i was personally not happy with the american release. the cover alone was kinda ugly...

Only because Mia Farrow and Jeff Bridges can't sing ^_~x But I do like their vocal roles otherwise, as far as speaking lines go.
On the original soundtrack, the songs are slightly altered in that they have professional singers singing their lines, rather than the actors. Of course, as far as I know, the soundtrack was only released in Germany, so I had to import it from there some years ago.

The German release was remastered, which is why I assumed they used that for this new release. I didn't even realize the covers were also the same until you mentioned that. Anytime I can reduce how often I use my region free player, the better.Caroline wrote:s'ok! there may be some similarities to the german release, but i did hear about the great deal of work that was put into this one... especially into the remastering and sound. from my understanding, she helped put the entire project together! and thank goodness lionsgate decided to re-release the dvd, because i was personally not happy with the american release. the cover alone was kinda ugly...

OMG, my boyfriend just suprised me with the new release, and I was all excited, but it is SOOO shitty! I am sorry, it really isn't that bad, but I am extremely disappointed in Americans. They censored out the Damn you from the best scene of the movie, and I hate it that they messed with the original voices for the love song...horrible! Other than that, yes the sound and picture was remastered wonderfully...if parents can't do the censoring for their kids something is wrong with the world. Of all the things to cut out of this movie...they left the nude transformation scene for goodness sake! This is not simply a child's movie...and when I was a kid I had the original version, Damn and all, and it never even occured to me to pay attention to the word, I was too focused on the pretty unicorns...I'm probably going to return the dvd and look for the super expensive but normal german release. sigh
