This is a very interesting topic.

Unfortunately, I am not sure how to answer the question accurately. :? I can easily give a number, but it would be very misleading. My records count every cel; regardless of whether they were bought individually, as part of a set or came as a freebie. My buying habits have varied a lot over the years too. There are some years where the totals are more than double the totals in other years. Like what a few others have said, there are months where I don't buy anything and months where I seem to go on a spending spree.

You don't have a "Whenever possible" option on the poll.

I haven't kept track of the dates of my purchases. Sometimes it feels like it's been a while, but other times things pop up back to back.

It depends. If I can't find anything, I can go at least 2 months without buying anything (even if there are, say, a bunch in online stores. I sometimes forget about them and either miss out or never get enough money for it). Then I might buy one once a week or every few weeks. Rarely I'll buy a few at once.

It depends on what's availble. But generally speaking, as more sellers put things on auction during the holiday season(and afterwards to pay off those bills) and during the summer vacation season, then, that's when I will make the majority of my purchases.

Since I tend to buy pricier items, I don't buy as many cels as others out there. Unless Mandarake or a few choice sellers on YJ advertise something I want, then, I stay out of the market.

From what most of you guys have been saying, I gather most of you are buying the same number of cels you were buying 6 months, 1 year or 1 1/2 years ago?

Like many people before me have stated, whenever a cel that I want pops up.

I easily buy a cel every week. Nowdays I buy on YJ so they are all pilling up. But it also depends on what is available elsewhere.

I buy 2 or 3 cels a year, now... I try to buy them slightly more frequently, but I often get outbid by bigger spenders!

I used to be addicted to buying stuff on YJ, normally 1-6 items every 2 days. Again, it depends on what comes up for auction because despite this ammount, I'm quite picky.
Sometimes a seller would have some great items all closing within a few days of each other. Therefore there were occasions when I'd buy 20 cels in one swoop, then nothing for a few days.

Nowadays [since December 2006] I've been casually buying cels every 2 weeks and that was my poll choice.

Reasons for changing my habit- debt and family distracting me from the hobby. I'm happier now because I have collated a lot of goodies and am satisfied with them. I can be smug knowing I have some amazing collections from the series I love.
Out of the gloom a voice said unto me;
"Smile and be happy, things could be worse".
So I smiled and was happy
and behold;
things did get worse...

Not *nearly* as often as I used to, but I still seem to average one or two per month. I'm kind of hunkering down and waiting for the perfect cel these days.

Of course, when the perfect cel shows up, it goes for 4 times my personally-imposed spending limit. *le sigh*
