Interesting....
Most people I know think anime is for kids, so it is not uncommon to be with someone who thinks your a twit. Luckily I haven't been with anyone who thinks like that. My bf hates most of the anime I watch. He hates women saving the world. I reckon that stems from his army days. Even so, he will tolerate it if he has to. I usually try and find a good 'guy' anime...but there arne't any he has liked so far. The search continues......

Maybe its just the ignorant guy in me, but I would think any female who liked anime (or any female period) wouldn't have a problem finding someone who shares the same hobby. I find I have to turn down my "nerdness" when I'm talking to other females I'm just meeting. Even with my current gf, she doesn't understand the whole cel collecting at all. I try to put it into perspective for her (i.e. shoes, purses, video games etc..) but she just gives me this blank stare. She's not a "princess" type girly-girl either though. She knows more about cars and computers than I do and is an avid gamer, but anime I guess just doesn't appeal to her. I do kinda wish we could share anime together, but I don't think thats ever gonna happen. I guess I'll just have to share my nerdness w/ ya'll and she can keep kickin my ass at Need for Speed Carbon ed.

I don't know if you've tried showing him Berserk before (my personal favorite), but be warned it ends w/out any completion of the plot because they ran out of manga at the time of production. But I think it has a really good story line and characters and is really dark, violent and graphic (3 things most guys enjoy are violence, nudity and toilet humor, 2/3 ain't bad). Gungrave is also another good "guy" anime. The group that fan-subbed it, Aone, did a post about how good it was and I was instantly hooked.

Do pets count? I've never had an "other" X|

Chloe (my dog) has no opinion on the matter. If I'm in bed or on the couch, she will sit with me while I watch :P

Of course. Not everyone has a bf/gf or wants one.

Anytime Rich is bothering me, and I want him to
leave me alone, I pop in some anime. If it doesn't
make him get up and go do something else, it most
definately puts him to sleep. :P

Not only do I watch anime with my husband of 22 years, I also watch it with my kids. He's actually watched quite a number that I haven't gotten to - mostly "jiggle-counter" types that Kymaera has recommended to him ;)

The family (and friends) who play together... and so on :D

I used to watch anime with my husband and he loved anime. However recently due to his religous beliefs he feels that anime is sinful and has nothing to do with it anymore. :l So now I watch it alone, which is fine with me. :)

I was introduced to anime while living on Okinawa ages and ages ago.
Years later ( about six years ago now) I was reintroduced by a male friend, and my husband, intrigued, watched the first few with me. There after, he kind of "looks into" whatever I bring home next, and then decides for himself whether he wants to watch it or not.
The ones he's liked: Record of Lodoss Wars, Berzerk, Kenshin, he toughed it out through all of Fushigi Yugi because by the time he'd had enough, he was too far into the story to give up before the end. He also liked RahXephon, Witch Hunter Robin, Last Exile, Bleach, Ghost in the Shell, Cowboy Bebop, Outlaw Star, Samurai Champloo, Trigun, and Dual... I think that's about it.

There have been others I thought for sure he'd like (SDK, Golden Boy, Vampire Princess Miyu, X, YuYu Hakushou...), but he doesn't want anything to do with. *shrug* There's just no telling what he'll really like. I think it's that way with everyone to a certain extent.
I thought a friend would LOVE Kenshin, but it turned out she couldn't stand the voice for Kenshin and didn't even watch one full episode. :puzzled

The Three Laws of Robotics:
1. A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

with my gf, it's a toss up.

She loves Yawara and Miyazaki's films, but I showed her some of my other favorites (Bubblgeum Crisis, Ranma) and she was pretty apathetic. I think Kodomo no Omocha is the next step, since romance is such a strong element...

I grew up watching Robotech and Macross with my father, so I was well into anime before meeting my husband. At first he was indifferent about it, did not mind me liking it but would never watch any with me. That is until Serial Experiments Lain aired on Tech TV, were it did not turn him into an otaku it made him appreciate anime more. Since then he has come to love several anime's which include Lodoss War, Key the Metal Idol, Escaflowne and most of all Miyazaki films.

If only it were that easy getting him to appreciate cels :shrug

nope, my better half, for the most part, is very un-otaku. With the exception of Cowboy Bebop, which I think she mostly got into because of the catchy jazzy soundtrack - and Ein), I'm pretty sure she thinks anime is just 'bouncy girls for adolecent male dreaming' - of course, it doesn't help my case that I've watched things like Divergence Eve and Burn Up which just emphasizes that view.

maybe it's just me? shrug :)

Its just you buma. Its all you. J/K *poke**poke*

Maybe she would like other ones (like Fruits Basket). I could give you some that don't use bouncy boobs to hold up a thin plot and skimpy clothing. (ok I know Im the one that told you to finish Gantz, but there are a lot of other shows on my dvd shelves too)

OOOOOH I could lend you Saiyuki, maybe she'll like that!!!!

the only problem with the above titles is I don't think they would hold my interests :)

Not to say that 'bouncy boob' anime is all that I watch (although it seems that the story-types I'm most attracted to seem to have them as a given most of the times, unfortunately).
