Japanese IQ Test

The rules are:

This is going to do your head in, but it can be done. I've worked it out.

For those of you who are not going to even understand the rules (you know who you are) get someone to explain them to you.

Apparently this is an IQ test given to job applicants in Japan:
"Everybody has to cross the river".

The following rules apply:

Only 2 persons on the raft at a time

The father can not stay with any of the daughters without their mother's presence

The mother can not stay with any of the sons without their father's presence

The thief (striped shirt) can not stay with any family member if the Policeman is not there

Only the Father, the Mother and the Policeman know how to operate the raft

To start click on the big blue circle on the right.

To move the people click on them. To move the raft click on the pole on the opposite side of the river.

thanks for the post and the overview star. It was fun. Took me about 5 minutes to complete (I wonder if there is a time limit?)

I tried it out for about 5 minutes and only manged to get the two girls and a boy across. Then I got stuck, lol.

One way to solve it, for those who get stuck

1. Police and thief to the right (MGGFBB-PT)
2. Police to the left (MGGFBBP-T)
3. Police and boy to the right. (MGGFB-PBT)
4. Police and thief to the left. (MGGFBPT-B)
5. Father and boy to the right. (MGGPT-FBB)
6. Father to the left (MGGFPT-BB)
7. Father and mother to the right (GGPT-MFBB)
8. Mother to the left (MGGPT-FBB)
9. Police and thief to the right (MGG-FBBPT)
10. Father to the left (MGGF-BBPT)
11. Mother and father to the right (GG-MFBBPT)
12. Mother to the left (MGG-FBBPT).
13. Mother and girl to the right (G-MGFBBPT)
14. Police and thief to the left (GPT-MGFBB)
15. Police and girl to the right (T-MGGFBBP)
16. Police to the left (PT-MGGFBB)
17. Police and thief to the right. (WIN!)

Anyone able to get it in less than 17 moves?

Also, what did we learn from this?

1. Japanese people have serious issues with same-sex child abuse.
2. Japanese police are totally ineffectual at stopping child abuse.
3. If left alone, Japanese thieves will not run away, but are still able to beat up Japanese civilians.

I wonder if this is the Japanese equivalent of the ink blot test in that, if you make a mistake and leave one of the characters with someone who they shouldn't be with, does that tell a potential employer as to what type of person you are....?

Examples being:

Leaving father with little girls - Will whittle your company's internet access on hentai sites, but will be a dedicated worker so as to fuel habit.

Leaving mother with little boys - Have you tried Eharmony lately?

Leaving cop and mom/dad together - Potential escort material.

Leaving thief alone with family - You are perfect CEO material. You're hired!

But, anyways, the test was fun and allowed me to whittle away my shift...at least for a few minutes.
