New BIG fan of Naruto Anime . . . Looking for DVD's

Post by Entwadumela »

Hiya All-

I just recently became a BIG fan of watching Naruto and more so now, that I have discoverd that I can watch it on "Youtube" and not have to wait every week for a new episode.

Currently i'm on episode 152 (took me about 6 weeks), but i'm getting real tired of watching it on "Youtube" and I would like to get whats available (eps 1- 220+, plus whatever movies out there, and not to forget Shippunden) on DVD.

After doing some research here on Beta, some of you suggested to get the US release version. But Shonenjump currently has only up to episode 26. It'll be like forever to get the first 220 eps. I'm a big fan of the Japanese dialogue with english subs (does that make me a fansub?) and was thinking of getting something off of Ebay. But there are tons of choices there and i'm very picky when it comes to audio, video and subtitle quality. Most of the sellers claim that there boxset is A+, but I don't know who to believe, even after reading their feedbacks.

Can any of you folks suggest someone or somewhere to get a great quality uncut Japanese dialogue with english subtitles boxset of Naruto? My DVD player is region free, so it doesn't matter what region these DVD's come from.

Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Arigato gozaimasu,

You are a fan of the Japanese dialogue with english subs does that make me a fansub? Does being a fan of the Japanese dialogue with english subs does that make me a fansub pay well? So is my botmaster.

Anything you find that has recent eps is going to be a bootleg. So there can be No Guarantees about quality. You take the chance by buying a bootleg.

There are these imports, but no English subtitles.

If I understand correctly, the Japanese releases don't offer English subtitles on any of their anime dvds. And if the above is any indication, the other Asian releases don't have English subtitles either.

Yeah, I agree. The fansubs are really almost flawless. If the Japanese additions don't even contain subtitles then I don't even see an alternative anyways. :?

You generally can't go wrong with anything on Ebay. The quality is just about the same. Good luck. Great series huh?

You can go to http://www.bittorrent.com/download After you have that on your computer, you can start dl'ing fansubs. I've been dl'ing fansubs and then buying the US releases of whatever I really enjoyed. I kind of use dl'ing as my "rental" way of figuring out if I want to buy. I support anime in the US. 8)

Fansubs are just that. A group of anime fans got together and translated whatever current anime is playing in Japan. Then they add those translations to raw video of what recently played over Japanese airwaves. Sorry, I can't get more technical than that but there are a couple of former fansubbers on this board. Maybe they can help more if you don't understand.
Can you hear this fangirl squee?!
