How does your collection look at home?

Taking a hint from Transmet's thread...

How is your collection stored? Where have you placed them?

I've got my six small Itoya folders on top of my closet standing up between my comic book boxes:

Then I have four of my large Itoya folders for my background cels kept in the dark inside my art portfolio thing. I don't normally leave them in the hallway though. There were too many things blocking the view in my room to take the picture there:

I have most of my junk cels and "lesser" cels located in my top drawer (along with my autographed scripts and signed photos). The seven inch shelf is completely full:

Everything else which hasn't been filed away yet are in four stacks in various flat spots of my room. It's better seen here spread out on the floor (instead being photographed in the stacks). The pictures didn't come out the way I wanted no matter which angle I chose so I'll just post up all three:

How does your collection look like at home?

As you can see, I am in need of storage.

Keropi, that's a lot of cels there!

I don't have nearly as many, and I haven't taken pictures yet, but pretty much I have a storage closet in my office area where I keep all my cels. About 90% of them (the ones I treasure) are located inside huge Itoya folders, tucked away in total darkness where light cannot find them.

All of my sketches except for the oversized ones have been moved from the Rinkya hard-cel books to a filing cabinet, where they all line up nice and neatly inside, kept away from the cels. My oversized sketches are kept in their own oversized Itoya folder. For my not-so-prized cels, I keep them inside one of the Rinkya hard-cel books that they ship to you everytime you win a cel auction. I find it much easier to find those cels in case I decide to sell/trade them, so they are readily available. But all my cels and sketches are kept away from the light, only peeking out every once in a while.

Wow, that is a LOT of cels!

I have a grande total of five cels and one sketch, and they're peppered throughout the small house like this!

Nothing hides whimpering in drawers or closets, everything is used somewhere in the decor of our humble home

I remember seeing someone saying they were boarding their cels and then using filing cabinets to store them. I thought that was brilliant way to store a mass amount of cels. I'd love to see pics of that storage system, really.

heatherjocey I like the way you have displayed yours.

Mine fit into a container that sits under my bed. I don't have any folders for them (can't afford the shipping costs for the Itoya folder) One day I will have them in nice folders instead.

Usamamo, what size Itoyas do you need? If you don't mind me shipping the slower way (so it's cheaper) I will send you some that I have. Just let me know, you can PM me if you want.

Most of my cels are stored in 7 Itoya folders, standing upright between my bed and dresser. They're covered in a dark cloth, to help protect them from the light. My super-oversized pieces are sandwiched between two pieces of heavily corrugated (thick!) cardboard and are stored in my closet behind my first cello.

Some of ya'll keep em in the dark, but some of ya'll frame em and hang em on the wall... I'm curious, what're the pros/cons of each of these methods? I have some that I'd love to display, but I'm so afraid of them cracking/fading.

They're kept upright in a portfolio now, kinda boring

You can put them on the walls as long as the light is dim. Any kind of light will damage it over long periods of time.

I'll have to take some pictures when I get home!

Well, I don't have very many, so right now most of them are kept in a folder in my dad's office on the book shelf. Others, which are too big or are matted, are hung in my closet (I use clip hangers).

Most of mine are locked up in an old record cabinet.

The dividers for the old "platters" perfectly hold
three of those plastic cel folders Rinkya sends you.
When I don't have enough of those, I have them
carefully seperated and packed into Postal Boxes.
(hooray for non-acid packaging!)

You can also see the box my JT LDs are in, and that
tan file box is where we hide the hentai.

After watching the shelf I'd piled my cel books on collapse under their weight,

my handy husband built me a set of shelves that perfectly contain my 11 x 17 Itoya folios. Each one stands on end in a slot, 20 slots per shelf, 3 shelves. The rest of the selves have those plastic boxes and those clear books dealers and deputies mail stuffs in, that contain most of my sketches.

Some day I'll take a picture....
