For work, I’m being sent to New York city tomorrow for an entire week. Does anyone have a list of cel dealers, or brick and mortar locations, that they would recommend?
Thanks,

Hi. I used to frequent NYC when I lived in NJ but never found any cel dealers there. Your best bet it to check out China Town. There's tons of trinket shops and food vendors/restaurants there. I did find a mini mall called Elizabeth Mall (loaded with anime related shops), theres also a video game store on this street across from the mall, and tiny japanese toy store, if I can remember correctly, located a few doors down from the mall. Follow Canal Street until you see Elizabeth Street. You should see a police station at the mouth of it. Lots of police scooters and bikes around.
I recommend you popping by "Book Off" a japanese book store that sells used and new items and is made of 3 floors. It's located at 41st and Madison. Top floor being japanese manga, the middle floor contains anime/movie dvds, cds, artbooks, magazines, various other books, and the bottom floor all being American books. I found my DEEN cds there at a great price.
The people who work there are very polite and helpful... to a certain extent. Didn't know what I was talking about when I asked about dvds for Mikan Enikki or Dragon Quest.
I haven't been to the city for over a year now so there may be new stores and some things may have closed down. But Book Off and the mall are nice placed to take a peek at. If you do find any stores that carry anime cels then please let us know. Have fun and stay away from the hot dog street vendors unless you are braver than I!
