One Piece has been Renewed

Post by eddiefb3 »

I just found out, thought i'd post it.

Funimation has licensed One Piece now that 4Kids has abandoned it.

Now funimation will take out all the changes(for the dvd release uncut) and most changes from the one that airs on cartoon network.

They will also redub it with new voice actors(no accents they say :o )

So One Piece will finally be getting what it deserves. But they still have to leave Sanji's cigarette a lollipop on the TV version.(Darn FCC)

Well here is the link in case you are interested

Nope. I read an interview with the Funimation marketing manager and production manager. It's legit. There will still be some edits on the dub (Sanji will still smoke lollipops, but cigars will remain as long as they get extingushed) but they will be releasing the uncut version on DVD. I believe that they will eventually be releasing the first 144 episodes on DVD as well, but when they do it will depend. If I remember correctly, they'll be going for 13 episode disc sets at $49.95 retail. They have no plans of releasing the dub on DVD (guess they figured out which audience will actually be buying).

Keropi, Sanji has a Brooklyn accent, Robin has a Southern one, and almost every nameless pirate has a "pirate" accent.

*grunt*...just like a regular North American cartoon dub for something aimed primarily to children eh? :?

That's unfortunate for anyone who happened to have seen their version first. Oh well. Thanks for explaining it.
