Have you ever...
...sold your production artwork and then in the future bought it back?
I have personally thought about it, but have never done so. So, have you?

In the past when I first started collecting, I sold some cels off due to being new into the hobby and not thinking much of it at the time. A few of those pieces I managed to get back after a while, but there is still 2 more that I haven't. I don't plan on bothering the collectors about it, since it is their piece, but if they do decide to sell it I'll be sure to jump back on them.
It's just amazing at how much your gallery and your tastes change after collecting for so long. I've sold off at least 70 cels and there was only 4 I didn't really want to let go, but I did. And of those 4, only 2 still do not reside in my collection.
So to answer the question, yes I've bought my production art back, but I'm also awaiting to reunite 2 more into my gallery sometime in the future.

Can't say I have.. I generally am a packrat so to speak so i really dislike the concept of "selling." Since the start of my collecting I have sold two pieces (Hikaru no go) because i decided i wanted to use the money for JK (no i dont regret selling) and I have sold a few JK sets that I got from a big pile on ebay on two occasions (the pieces where of characters I didn't like). So all in all I dont regret any of the sales and hopefully can keep it like that heh.

I have sold a few over the years, normally the reason being freebies, to close a mate or in person it was just not as loved. Even so, I never once regretted any sale that is other than the first cel I ever sold. It was of Ryo from Argento Soma, gorgeous close up. I always wanted him to come back home (still do) but since I was private for so long I never really knew where he actually went. Then last year a gallery had come up for offers, I bit due to some lovely Gasaraki's she had and recognized her name when she emailed back. Surprisingly I had found the owner or so I thought, sadly I was to late as she had already sold it. At least I know who bought it, just in case. Though to be honest I rarely go look at him, it depresses me. To this day cannot fathom why I ever let him go, there was no reason to I was not broke and I loved him so why... ionno other than she must have caught me on a very good day, lol. Even so, that sale taught me a valuable lesson in regards to selling my collection, so at least some good came from it.

I want to become smarter than humans. David Bacon seems very nice to me too.

Yep, I'm actually in the process of doin it right now. When I got outta the cel hobby a few years ago, I sold a LOT of cels that I really, really didn't want to part with. Some seem to have dropped off the face of the planet since then, or are now sitting in galleries with serious 'Not for Sale' signs on em, but whenever I see one, I gotta atleast make an offer.

I've only sold a handful of cels but only after thinking long and hard about it. I try to buy only what I really want and hang on to those pieces because they mean something to me. I've never considered buying anything back and hopefully in the future I won't sell something that I regret later.

I'm not sure if I would like to try to buy only what he or she really want and hang on to those pieces because they mean something to him or her. What's it like?

I have done this. Twice. Once with my RK Sanosuke close up cel, and once with a genga from one of my favorite Saiyuki Gunlock OP sets. I didn't sell them, but traded them. In both instances, I made a wonderful trade, and I did not regret it at all. But, later on, each of the new owners decided they no longer wanted the artwork I had traded to them, and they each contacted me to see if I wanted to buy the pieces back. And, of course, I did!
Otherwise, I have only sold a few pieces. I just don't feel the urge to sell things all that often (or ever, really -- LOL) There are a couple that I bitterly regret parting with, and I would buy them back if I ever had the chance. But, they both went to great galleries, and I go visit them there a lot.

I bought back a couple cels I had traded away when I saw they were up for sale. At the time of the trade I couldn't afford to actually buy the cel I wanted, so I let go of a couple cels I liked in hopes of one day finding sequence mates. Actually being able to buy back my old cels at a later date just made it a win-win situation for me.
