Saiunkoku picked up by Geneon

Post by miz ducky »

I'm scared.

:wack Bad Geneon. You better be good to this wonderful show or I will never forgive you.

What makes me sad is that due to their outsourcing of the R1 releases (not all of them, but none the less I'm against it), I am determined not to put my money into their hands. So for the time being I will not buy the dvds that they release.

For those interested, the first DVD is supposed to be available in August.

Im not sure why that is bad (I dunno much ><; ) but good to know at least a dvd is coming out soon.

Why is it bad that it went to Geneon?

Geneon has been sending titles to overseas studios for dubbing. Now most people on this forum might not care about that. But the product is so bad that they are actually trying to get American VAs to go teach the foreign actors how to dub. Which, of course, no one in their right mind would do. Why go teach someone else how to do Your job so that the company can get it done cheaper by them.

It's just pathetic over all to think that anyone out side of America would be able to do an acceptable job for the American audience.

(just an example not the real country that is doing the dubs)
Would the Japanese creators send their series to Russia to get them dubbed for distribution in Japan?

I disagree with the company's practices.

If you spend money on a substandard release then you are effectively telling the company that you are ok with it.

While some of Geneons releases are being done at Ocean studios (same as Inuyasha), some of them are being done in asia.

I'm afraid that if Geneon doesn't think that they will make enough on DVD sales that they will opt for the cheapest way to release them. This would result in a substandard product, and will give people more ammunition when they argue that they have no need to buy the American released DVDs. This also means that those of us who Do like listening to anime in our native language are getting shafted by a company that doesn't care about its consumers.

I'm just mad that I have to wait a long while for season 2 to come out on dvd. I want to know who those new guys are! *pouts* Watching episode 1 of the new season seems like such a tease now. :P

It's too bad that both We Suck and Shadow Dreams dropped season 2.
If anyone finds another fan sub group that will do it, please let us know.

I am not certain if everyone agrees with you.

The first ep of season 2 has been fansubbed by We Suck and I managed to get it downloaded before they removed it due to the licensing. I hope another group picks it up or I'll just have to settle for the raws for now. Definately a series I would buy on DVD though! :)

I have watched the raws of the first 4 eps,
and it is shaping up to be another good season.
It would be nice if another group would sub it,
however, I will be happy with the raws if that
is all I can get. ^_^

Ok, I just watched ep. 5, and WOW, this is totally
getting interesting. 8O
I so want to learn the whole story with Riou, Shouka
and Bara-hime!! Argh, I hate waiting for a week in between
eps. X| Also, I am sad that Eigetsu is going to die. I really
have always been infatuated with Yougetsu, however, I really
liked Eigetsu and Kourin as a couple. :l
Oh, by the way, KissSub still plans on subbing Season 2.
They aren't quite as fast as the others, but their subs are
good, and it may be the only group subbing.

Avoiding spoilers... avoiding spoilers... ok safe for now.

Kiss Sub, huh, must find their site and add it to favorites.

Thanks for the tip Gonzai!

I'd also like to see the next season, so I hope that KissSub does continue its work on non-licensed episodes. :)

Here's the forum "http://forum.kiss-sub.com/" if you'd like to know the latest news.
