My Alienware has puked on me. :bawl :bawl I will probably need a new laptop. :bawl :bawl What to get. I can retrieve files on the alienware and can probably run basic programs, but overall the video abilites are trashed, internet it gone because the PCMCIA card can't communicate with the computer and thus receives no power which explains all of my wireless issues. So.....the question is.......

Spend another $6000 on a new Alienware, Go to some store like CompUsa and buy some crappier brand for cheaper, or turn to the dark side and get a MacBook. I am so bummed right now, but want to get something pretty quick since my laptop is like another appendage. :bawl

Ideas y'all?

Try to rephrase your question with simpler words.

I Honestly could not see spending that kind of money on another Alienware laptop.

I think you would be better off with a cheaper brand. I tend to turnover/upgrade my computers every 2-3 years anyway so I tend to get my moneys worth.

Man I know how you feel my hard drive crapped out on me and my power supply went at the same time not too long ago. The hard disk's back in a fashion, but it's got loads of corrupted sectors so I've got some new ones lined up. Anyone know what to do with about 440 GB's of disk space, I'm stumped if I could use it all :?!

Hmm it's a shame not to get another cos Alienware are in another league of cool 8)! That said I can see why you'd want to economise, so I'd concur with JWR, least if it craps out in 2-3 years you won't be quite so heartbroken!

I agree with GB - especially since I just recently pulled the trigger on a purchasemyself (as in yesterday).
Unless you're a die-hard PC gamer, there just isn't any real reason to spend that kind of money on a laptop. :|

I've already decided that when my laptop craps out on me, I will go to the dark side and get a MacBook. :P

I know that Alienware makes great computers, but I would either buy a cheaper brand or go Mac.

Im thinking of turning to the dark side...my sony is getting outdated and Macs look nicer and run alot better...i agree get parallels so u can run windows based stuff as well...u can get like 6 mac books for the price of the alienware that will be obsolete in a few years ne way.

Unless your a die hard gamer there's no real reason to get an Alienware or Voodoo. It would be cool for sure but also seem to be a waste of money. But if you are a gamer I would say go with Voodoo, they have very strict guidelines they must meet before any computer/notebook is released.

My hubby recently got a Macbook for me, and I really love it. It was a bit hard to get used to at first, but now I use it all the time.

I still use a PC (Dell) as my desktop. I know a lot of folks don't like Dells, but I've used them for a few years now, and have never had any problems with them.
