Widening/narrowing titles in your collection?

Post by Keropi »

Are you currently widening, holding steady or narrowing the number of shows you're trying to obtain for your collection?

Early on I tried to limit myself to collecting from only top favorite anime to limit risk and limit spending. As I became satisfied with what I had there I branched off into new series.

Then I became "somewhat" satisfied with the "second list" of anime series I was trying to get. So I widened out my title acquiring list again.

I've gotten better over the years at controlling my spending. So now I find there's less risk at leaving myself permanently open to collecting from a wider variety of shows. I still concentrate the most at acquiring stuff that came from gaming anime, but after that...who knows? :)

I am currently expanding the number of series collected, but narrowing my selections within each series. So I'm still hovering around 200-250 pieces of production art i.e. cels, sketches, rilezu, etc. at any given time.

Slowly adding more. I know I'll be adding at least one new series when I get my next shipment from the deputy service.

I think it's a case of when a door closes, a window opens up. I've stopped collecting one series only to pick up another. :P So in the end, the number of series I have just keeps getting bigger.

I have totally stopped some such as IY and added a few new series that are fun and cheaper such as Karin.
I'm still active on other series but going more quality cels so I have made less purchases do to lack of such.

Very very very slowly adding more on still Kenshin, Snufkin from Moomin and Goemon from Lupin the third. But very slow unfortunately (or fortunately???)

I might reduce some of my cels in future but maybe not :P :P

Perhaps. How do you plan to do this?

I'm pretty much trying to narrrow down mine, and I now try to buy cels from just three shows.

And only the ones that make my heart skip a beat when I see them.

What is the difficulty? I'm not sure if I would like to try to buy cels from just three shows. What's it like? .

Widening. With only a few exceptions, I've been fortunate to land most of my "old" major wishlists, or variations of said wishlists. Unless I get really lucky on those exceptions, I'll probably be slowly turning towards some of my "lesser" wantlist items (but only if something appears for the right price), as well as potentially interesting items that might appear from some of the newer shows.

Next update I will be adding nine new titles, with an additional two new titles that will be incoming with my next deputy shipment. With the small size of my gallery, I feel this is a pretty amazing feat, increasing my number of title links by about 50%.
