Just out of curiosity, how many reproduction cels would there actually be of a single shot? hundreds? thousands? Less the 10? :P

Depends on the show.
For Bleach, it's usually five.
Can't say for sure on the others, like Fushigi Yugi.

Yeah, I've heard from just about everyone on here and different sites that Bleach and Naruto has 5 cels each.

I don't know if Pierrot is the only studio that makes 5 repro cels.

did pierrot start doing this recently?

was wondering since i know saiyuki has more then that when it comes to their repro cels.

I'm not certain whether about pierrot start doing this recently.

I'm guessing Pierrot started making the Bleach and Naruto repro cels right after they started to draw the series a few years ago. Just a guess though.

I'm not surprised that a show will have more than 5 repro cels. Bleach and Naruto are just one of the shows that has 5 cels of each shot.

It could also be because Saiyuki was one of the first all-CG productions, if I'm not mistaken. Thus, it would be one of the first shows for which repro cels were made. Given that, it makes sense that Studio Pierrot would make more than 5 of each shot. I just wish I could find more of them that I like. *sigh*
