Thanks *everyone* for the compliments!! :ghug: The group shot is definitely going to the grave with me. I plan on doing some research on professional framers in the area, so I can hang both on my wall.

Also, could someone translate this for me please? It was written at the top of the rice paper that covered the group shot.

ryouko - I still love your hanken sketch!

kittens and HotIce - Thanks for checking out my tiger. :) I might not have Tama-neko, but I have a feline from FY now, darn it! :P

ducky and wc - Thanks for the compliments on the Fruits Basket! It's one of my favorite series too, so I'm always happy when art pops up. :^^:

aernath - Ha! I agree with you about Miaka! As much as I want to dislike her character, artistically there's so many nice cels of her, so I usually cave. :l

kizu - Yup, this was *the* purchase. I started getting more and more paranoid as the arrival date got closer. Everytime there was a horror story post, I would wince and say a small prayer nothing would happen to them. :emb

Thanks again everyone!

Wow . . . real, honest-to-goodness FY hankens?! That is just incredible! They are so beautiful, and in such wonderful condition! I'm soooo glad they arrived safely!

I also must say something about the FY tiger. When I first read your post, I clicked on that one before the others, wondering which character had the nickname "Tiger." I was guessing Tasuki . . . then I clicked and found a real tiger! I love it!

The first two characters say genga. The third one over may be earth, and the fourth is mountain. I think it's probably the name of whoever worked on the genga. I'll see if I can figure it out, but your best bet would be to get a native speaker, like kittens or RX, to take a look at it. They can read shorthand much better than I can, and I'm sure they know thousands more kanji than I do. :)

EDIT: Blegh. I just can't get that last kanji. This is what I see:

原画 --> 地山真 (+some other kanji)

地山 is a name reading Jiyama or Jizan

真 is also a jouyou kanji (one of the kanji suitable for use in names)

Sorry. That last one is just too messy. :l

:bow There's no way I would have connected what you have with what's written. Looking at both, and I can *sorta* see the resemblance. :P You're correct about the name part! It's actually Mari Kitayama. I had been informed she had done something with the hanken, but I didn't realize it literally meant her name was on the hanken's cover. :emb Thanks so much klet! :friends:

Oooh, lovely update! My mother would flip over that Tiger cel - she loves the big, striped cats and she is a HUGE FY fan! Might be a little too vicious for her, though. As for myself, I actually like your new Neoranga cel - it just looks so beautiful and peaceful! Great cels!!

Sorry, I thought I commented already on your update. X|

Absolutely stunning! :OMG My favorite has to be the Miaka Hanken. It's just so simple, sweet and down right gorgeous.

Major congrats on everything! :woot:

keeper - Sounds like your mom has good taste! Thanks for giving Minami some love! :^^:

dt - Better late than never! :friends: With the color and busyness (and far better scan/presentation) of the group shot, the Miaka seems to be in it's shadow, so I'm definitely happy she's your fav! :)

You're welcome. :) Cool stuff! You want to know what's strange . . . that last kanji there is one I've known for two years. :x It's the "ri" from "ryouri" (cuisine/cooking). Boy that's messy!!!

So, what it actually says is:

原画 --> 北山真理

Her family name means North mountain (kita + yama).
