Asking sellers to relist?

Post by sugarcels »

Have you ever done this? Have the sellers said yes? No? I don't think so? Are the sellers all too glad to do it, since it means someone is really interested? If they have relisted, did you win the cel in the end?

It's not possible for Yahoo! Japan, but I just mean places like Ebay.

Not a cel, but some Harry Potter mini playsets for the kids. She set a bin for it to and emailed me at a pre-agreed upon time. It's the only time I can remember ever really asking. Mostly since the item hadn't sold, and I mentioned the fact that I forgot to bid ^_^;;; I paid asap through paypal too. All the details were worked out ahead of time.

I think anytime something hasn't sold and a person has contacted me wanting it I've just sold it off ebay though I'd have been willing to relist as well. I know I've set BIN prices for people when they've asked to. I think it probably just depends on the seller honestly. I don't think I've ever asked someone to relist though I have asked if an unsold auction item was still available when I've seen them doing ended item searches.

I've been told that asking to be sold the item "off" Ebay is bad (no "protection" and whathaveyou), but it sounds like a good idea to me :)

to me, that really depends on the seller. there are quite a few ppl i'd buy from off ebay... but then there are some i may hesitate to if it's a high $ item.

I've inquired about items that didn't sell before. Typically the seller will work with me and either relist it or sell it to me directly. I dislike when a seller doesn't want to lower the price, in light of the fact no one bid. It's their right not to lower the price, but still. You'd think it would be an incentive.

I've missed out on ebay items before -- mainly due to forgetting all about the auction, like a total doofus. This has happened a handful of times, maybe three or four where the items did not sell. Each time, I contacted the seller just to ask if they were intending to relist, and, each time, the seller was kind enough to either relist or sell to me directly.

I've done the same on YJ, through a friend who speaks/writes Japanese. Only a couple of times, but each time the seller relisted the item, and I won it for the opening bid. :)

I've asked before and I have been asked before. In the cases where I asked, the seller either relisted with a buy it now for me or just sold it without the relisting hassle. When I was asked, I just sold it to the buyer straight out. :)
