Time to introduce myself

Post by almathea »

Hi there ^^

Some of you know me from latest forums as I'm in cel collecting for years now...

But as most of my old friends have quitted, here I am to re-introduce myself! :hurt: *feels old suddenly*

So, I'm Almathea.
My hobbies and passions include cels collecting and animation, reading (especially fantastic-horror-vampire stories), writing (same), acting in an amateur cinema group, cosplaying (at the moment I play Integra from Hellsing), spending time with my friends and my lover and complaining about my job in a bank I deeply hate :))

My favourite series are so numerous it's impossible to tell... But certainly Ai no Kusabi, Zetsuai, Ryokunohara Meikyuu, Vampire Hunter D, trinity Blood...

Well I don't see what else to say so... Let's make it easier: if you have some questions, please go ahaead! :))

Hello there!! :D It's nice of you to introduce yourself to us! My name is Carly but I dont mind being called Carkiechu and I'm a pure CCS cel fan.

So...whats the main focus of your cel collection...what do you prefer to collect over everything else?

Btw....32 isn't old! *lol*

Once more? What do you like most about it?

Pleased to meet you Carly (l)

Zetsuuuuuuuuuuuuuu :D So glad to hear from you again! Hey I've watched your gallery: you ahd a good time while I was away from collecting :)) Now things will become harder... for both of us! :p
Youre gallery now... I ssimply AMAZING!!! Good job!

Well, I think my favourite series to collect are mainly:
- Ai no Kusabi
- Zetsuai / Bronze / Cathexis (that's how I met Zetsu ;) )
- Natsu he no tobira
- Shuten from Yoroiden Samurai Troopers
- Gai from Shurato
- Ryokunohara Meikyuu
- Myme from Saint Seiya

And I'd give kidneys for all of these but also for cels from Kaze to Ki no uta (i've none :(( )

What I prefer about cel collecting? Hmmm...
1- The pure collecting instinct of having something unique from a series I deeply love 8)
2- The thrill when I see a cel I DO want but knowing I won't be the only one to try to get it :hurt:
3- To share this passion with people who loves it as much as I do, often rivals who also becom friends...

Hello almathea and welcome to Beta. You're not allowed to feel old until one of your children graduates from college (mine did in 2004). Sensei looks wistfully at his birth certificate from Harry S Truman's presidency and remembers how mad he was when his TV cartoon regimen was interrupted by the Army-McCarthy Hearings

Like carkiechu, I have a biggish CCS collection, but I've broadened my interests of late, getting into Rayearth, Tree of Palme, and Tenshi ni Narumon, among others. With CGI series, I'm positively addicted to Powerpuff Girls Z and pick up Saiyuki and Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne sketches whenever I can.

I guess I like well-done art, with lots of action and cuteness, ideally combined. Unlike some people, I don't mind if I haven't actually seen a series if the image is compelling in and of itself.

I am extremely tempted by the Condition Green cel of Bad Girl that you have listed for sale... I've only seen one other come up for sale lately.

Stick around: we bite, but not hard enough (usually) to draw blood.

That's only your opinion.

Don't worry about it, Queen_Serenity.

Konbanwa Sensei ^^

I love you! I suddenly feel soooo young! *big laughter on the other side of the screen* Well, I suppose my lovely step-daughter will make me feel old before the age soon enough ;)

I agree with you: sometimes I don't need to have seen a series to be attracted by a cel. The perfect proof: Natsu he no Tobira, one of my favourite collection... I've never seen the anime and Im' not especially fond of the manga. But the art is so magnificent... *sparkles in the eyes*

The atmosphere in a cel is also important to me. That's why I'm making these strange backgrounds for all my cels in my gallery (on Rubberslug): I sometimes spend hours searching for the good one to get a great atmosphere and/or feeling.

By example, the Raiza cel from Condition Green you have an eye on: I chose this background and printed it as it gave me the feeling she was driving a moto in the turning of a tunnel...

Yeas I know: I'm nuts! :D

Thanks a lot for your great welcoming, and thanks also to Queen-Serenity who made me laugh so much by chasing our charming bot!!!

I'm sure none of you bite and I hope we'll have some fun here together!

Welcome to beta I'm sure you'll get along fine with us all. Besides age is just a simple matter of comparison, I feel old when I walk past a bunch of 18 year olds just on the cusp of adulthood then again I go and sit next to a bunch of centenarians and all is right with the world .

Welcome welcome  Age is not a factor if you're at heart. All of us here at beta are young. And objectively speaking, 32 is not old! Btw what's the link to your RS gallery? :)
