Displaying / Framing Cels and Timesheets?

Post by minigt »

I was wondering if anyone out there has framed a cel, sketch and timing sheet - all in the one frame. I am tempted to do it, but am not sure how it would look. It may be a little too much and detract from the actual art work.

Look forward to any replies! :D

Thank you

I have not done that with cels but I have on a few occations had an original comic book page pen & inked artwork framed with the actual colored page from the book after it was published.

I have thought about putting together a set of sketches from Ai Yori Aoshi that would show the progress from Story Board to rough to genga to correction to final production douga. I think my limited wallspace has kept me from doing it.

I only framed one cel for my kids, but that is the only production cel I ever framed. I never framed it in a set up, but I have seen a cel with sketch and all framed before in Germany at a convention. It looked pretty good. The way it was is that the cel and douga were side by side and another sketch in that particular case was underneath it in middle "between" the top two.

I have never done it. The main reason I haven't is size, but I think they would look great together.

You could try doing a mock-up in photoshop to get an idea of how it might look.

I've never actually seen Cel, sketch, and timing sheet together but I'd imagine the frame would be really big.

It sounds like a good idea to me if you have room for it. It'd be like the progression of a great masterpiece. :) Pretty awesome to look at in my opinion.

I don't have any cels framed with both the sketch and timing sheet, but I do have one that's framed with the sketch:

I purchased it already framed like that but I like it a lot. Like graymouser said, though, it can take up a lot of space. Still, my future framing of cels will probably be just like this ^_^

It will be great to frame Cel and sketch but that is already a huge frame. I fram almost all my cels as you know but never with sketch otherwise it would cost me too much and will take to much space too. It 's my opinion but to frame Cel + sketch + Timsheet I don't think it will look that aweseome, keep the timingsheet inside the fram and frame cel + sketches. As there are 3 sketch you can use a huge frame sqared and fram the cel with the 3 sketches!
