Naruto Chapter 367: "Itachi and Sasuke"

Don't be fooled, another setup chapter. New, very long rumored, revealing of Naruto's parents. A name for his mother given, Uzumaki Kushina, not sure if that's been done yet? If you haven't been able to speculate who his father is, you probably aren't that into Naruto. Anywho, I can't wait until the showdown at the Uchiha's hideout begins!

that finally it's said who Naruto's father is and mother. I knew it had to be "him" but I had no idea about who the mother is and it's interesting to know where she was from and kind of how she was, but what happend to her is my next question

Based on where Tsunade said the Mom was from and based on the fact that Mom had red hair then it almost BEGS us to assume that Pain is probably Naruto's brother. It's finally all coming together in regards to Naruto's past. Though why they can't tell him is beyond me. Poor guy. The Sasuke/Itachi fight needs to happen already. This "come to the hideout" crap is annoying. I really want to see Sasuke kick his ass! I guess the next question is....will Jiraiya live or die?

it looks like they are setting things up for jiraya to die. i dont want him to, but thats they way it looks to me. i dont know if pein and naruto are brothers, but it does look as if they might be from the same "clan." its seems kinda weird now saying that naruto could have his own clan and maybe a bloodlimit ability... i also read an interesting theory that someone brought up. maybe itachi didnt kill the clan off but told sasuke that he did so that he would become stronger. seems a little messed up but would make for an interesting plot twist.

I agree with your observation Majin Vegeta 2028. Perhaps we should look back on the temporary focus on Asuma before he died; this seems like the same thing to me. Don't die Jiraiya, you've so many more naked ladies to spy on!

I’m so glad you brought this up, because this is something that has always bothered me.

No one has seen Itachi kill anyone. He shows Sasuke a vision of him killing the clan, but who knows if that is true. He certainly could have killed Kakashi, but didn’t. It makes me wonder… (and it made Kakashi wonder, too) I, too, think Pain is his brother, because it keeps up the symmetry this series is fond of: Sasuke/Itachi, Naruto/Pain. Maybe Jiraya will be put in peril so Naruto can show the growth of his strength by saving him, on the other hand, maybe Pain will kill him to give Naruto a motivational death to avenge. Can’t make up my mind yet….

There's another scene that I believe shows Itachi's restraint. When he was confronted by the other Uchihas in regards to his friends death it seemed he deliberatly chose not to kill them though he easily could have. That scene also showed that he still respected his father. I've always been of the opinion that Itachi was coerced/forced/gengutsu'ed by the "other" Magenkyo Sharingan user back in the past when he was in an Anbu mission or something. Meaning that Tobi may have killed off the tribe in hopes of raising an Uchiha with the potential/characteristics he was looking for. What I'm thinking may happen now is that Itachi will tell Sasuke that truth in an attempt to push Sasuke's rage to the point that Tobi desires. EDIT: Forgot one other scene depicting Itachi's restraint, and it's another important one IMO. That would be his confrontation with Orochimaru. When Orochimaru tried to steal his body Itachi cut off his hand. While not being a very nice act, it appeared he could've easily killed Orochimaru. Most would think he would have for that kind of transgression. It really looks like Itachi has an aversion to killing. While I believe Pain to be of some relation to Naruto I don't think it's as close as brother. I'm thinking more of a cousin or maybe even uncle (Yondaime's brother). Kishimoto has already made plenty of allusions to Naruto considering Sasuke his "brother" that introducing Pain as his own biological brother just doesn't sit right atleast with me . But making Pain have some relation to Naruto, even as only an uncle, would have an equal amount of impact on Naruto being that he'll see his only remaining blood relative stands for everything he's against. The one person in Akatsuki whom I'm still wondering much about is the woman. I'm stuck between thinking she could be Naruto's mother or Rin. Or maybe even Naruto's aunt. The possibilities seem endless LOL I really hope that Jiraya makes it through this fight. While we've never seen Pain in action, I believe it's safe to say we've never seen Jiraya going "all out" either. All the instances he's been fighting in the series were against inferior opponents, and in the case of the Orochimaru/Tsunade/Jiraya fight he was "poisoned" by Tsunade beforehand. There's still plenty of reason to believe Jiraya has a chance to win

It's been a while since I've really gotten to discuss any manga. I'm really enjoying this topic ^_^

I doubt Pain is Naruto's brother for the same reasons Ralph explained for his opinon. I have, however, figured out who Naruto's mother is... >_> <_< ..... its gotta to be.... Karin! Red hair, loud mouth, and tomboyish.. she just pulled the same anti-aging crap as granny Tsunade. How else could you explain why shes so fucking annoying. Only natural to assume she is the source of Naruto obnoxious childish personality that likes to creep up once in awhile. Thank the Gods for us, Naruto is only half calorie annoying. I say she rushes to the "hideout" to somehow aide her poor Sasuke-baby , and gets annilated like Haku did when he stood infront of Zabuza. I've often wondered if perhaps it was someone in Itachi's place that really did it. So I guess I'm w/ Ralphie on that one too. Does anyone else feel that Naruto maybe ending in perhaps 6mo-1yr? I feel like its getting to that big climax and then begin to mellow into Naruto possibly becoming the Hokage and tying up loose ends for the other characters'stories I just cant see Kishimoto doing much w/ Naruto after the whole Akatsuki and Itachi/Sasuke crap is over with and done unless he wants to follow in Toriyama's footsteps and cont. on w/ several more generations XD

the only other thing that he could run with is the fact that orochimaru is living on in Kabuto's body... they never really did go into the back story of what happened between orochimaru and the village to make him hate the leaf so much. however, this could all be tied up in a big ending, since orochimaru and kabuto are both tied to akasuki in their own ways.

I totally agree that there's not much story left to tell. Naruto is off in the woods though and in order to wrap things up he needs to be where Sasuke and or Jiraiya is. I don't see him entering the village of rain to easily. Then again....who knows. I agree I could see them killing off Jiraiya or almost doing so and Naruto facing his "relative" in revenge showing what he can do. I too don't want to lose Ero-Sennin. I love the Tobi/Itachi idea of Tobi killing the clan. That's an interesting idea. Either way I want to see Itachi/Sasuke finally kick some ass. Whether it be eachother's or Tobi's. Karin is completely annoying I totally agree Marie. I don't know about being Naruto's Mom though. Based on how Tsunade spoke of her I picture someone who is taken a bit more seriously and held to a higher standard. Who knows though....everyone has their skeletons.

I want Ero Sennin to live. Even so he is a perv, but I like him. The way Tsunade was talking about Naruto's mother didnt' give me enough info to know who she really was (or is). I wonder what happend to his mother. I want to know also what really happend with Itachi, was he really the one killing off the clan or somebody else, with this last chapter it left a lot of questions open. I wonder though, since he did kill his best friend to reach his goal. Right now it's all kind of iffy. On the talk that Jiraiya and Tsunade had it "cleared" up a few things, but gave me more questions. Lets hope that the chapters get released a bit faster since the new volume came out. I for sure can't wait for more

I was thinking the same thing as I watched Naruto... Itachi seems like the type of guy who would not waste energy without a good reason... Like you guys said, he only cut off Orochimaru's arm...I have not really seen him kill anything worth killing... So the question is...why leave his brother alive???? That makes no sense, if you want to be the strongest...why leave someone who can surpass you alive??? He does not seem like the type that will wait for a challenge to show up..so maybe Tobi did kill the whole clan and Itachi just arrived in time and was looking at his family, when his brother came home.... -Why kill only his clan??? He could have killed everyone else in the village.... -Another question is about Tobi's one eye...could Kakashi have the other eye??? If ya know what I mean???? Maybe his buddy was not completely dead??? I mean in the manga Tobi talks about restoring the sharigan or something like that...maybe he wants his eye back???? -Maybe Pain is his cousin...or maybe uncle...If pain turns out to be the 4th....than It would feel like a star wars twist ...So I hope that it's not the father or brother...I hope it's really a big twist

General appearance = Naruto’s Father. Hair color = Naruto’s Mother (and they made such a point of mentioning the color, too). Both would not be there if he was his mother or father’s relation only. I’m sticking with: brother.
