What is a BOOK cel + hard, clear storage folders?

For the n00bs of cel collecting and production art . . . and for some of us old-timers, too. Post your questions on anything that puzzles you.

What is a BOOK cel + hard, clear storage folders?

Post by sugarcels »

I recently came into a cel that is labeled "book." Tried to look it up, but couldn't locate any information. I can say that a part of the background (well, foreground) has been glued to the front of the cel, if it's any clue.

Also, I am wondering where I can find those hard, clear storage folders that you can put cels in? I got one from a Yahoo! Japan auction once, and would like to get more, but searches have led me nowhere.

The most common book cel is one that has a background and a foreground... which are the front and back 'covers'. Your "clue" is what actually makes it a book. :)

Don't know where to find those storage folders, though. Sorry!

I'm still trying to locate some of those storage folders too. I want more of the pink variety to store things in. ^_^;

If anyone knows how to search for them on YJ, a link would be appreciated. ^_^

Hmm, you know, I should've made the connection :P But I guess I thought there was some other special reason it was called that.

You're talking about the ones you get in shipments from Rinkya, right?

If so, they sell a bunch at this new Japanese dollar store in my area. I think they're $1.50/piece. If that's the case, let me know what size you'd like and I can send some to you. I'll look around on the next trip if you'd like.

The cel above is a good example of a book cel. A book cel is where there is a background, then the layer of cels and then another background or background pieces on top. In the case of the cel above, there is a background and then a cel for the screens and then there is the overlay background on top of it. The cel of Shuro is on top of it all.

This cel has a background, then the cels of Nuriko & tamahome and then the top layer is another piece of cardboard/background in the front for the cliff they are sitting on.

Kinda confusing... i can't explain things well. LOL

cutiebunny Actually, I got it through Shopping Mall Japan, although I suspect it was supplied by the original seller, which made me figure it was either difficult to find in the US, or not at all.

That would be wonderful! I'll have to dig up the folder and measure it, and get back to you soon :) You're very kind.

iwakuralain16 Thank you very much for the links and info!
