Complete and Utter Frustration
How many people have stopped collecting due to the complete lack of consideration by fellow collectors? I don't know what it is lately but no one can seem to ship the cels they sold out. Months have gone by with some sellers and still no cels. I have had to threaten to file several Paypal complaints and actually file one because some people won't even answer my emails. I don't know what to do. I don't want to make enemies but some cels are very pricey and I don't want to loose my money either. This hobby is becoming more of a nightmare than something enjoyable. I mean does it really take that long to bring a package to the post office? Have other collectors had this problem in the past?

I've had cels take a looong time to ship a couple of times. Early in my career, I had one girl never send me the cel (in fact, that was back in the days when Ebay automatically gave you their shipping address and phone number when you won and I found that email a month or so ago . . . maybe I should call her
). But, overall, I haven't had too many bad experiences. *shrug*

Well, the cel I never got was only worth about $30. I filed a paypal claim and won, but apparently since she had no money in her paypal account (or maybe even her bank account) I got nothing.
So, it's usually better, even with paypal, to do it on a credit card. That way, if you have to, you can do a charge back.

I have been very lucky that so far I have yet to deal with a "horrible person." The reason I have it under quotes is I have had deals that i offer a sum of money and they dont refuse to say yes or no but rather a "maybe." These are very annoying as I had to constantly email them as to regards to there decision, in the end when I almost gave up and they caved in... I am sure they wanted more money... But I set limits.
Other than that no deadbeat buyers or sellers. Hopefully this tend continues.

I've had a few crappy situations. Some things tend to get more complicated then they need to be for sure. But it's never made me want to stop collecting and I've had really good luck in recent memory.
I've said in the past that this hobby brings more pain than happiness, but I don't believe that anymore. Maybe it's because I've adjusted and now involved for a bit over three years.
Lazy people really piss me off. I pay for everything right away and expect the same treatment in return. If someone isn't capable of doing so they shouldn't sell anything in the first place. My views on that.

Sometimes it might take me a while to get something mailed but I never stop communicating with my buyer. I think the longest it's taken me was 3 weeks. I got pnemonia 2 days after my auctions ended.
It usually only takes me a week to pack and coordinate schedules.
But I guess the answer to your question is no. If I have a bad experience with someone, I take it as a learning experience and move on. I block bidders on my ebay auctions. I flat out refuse to deal with some people. And, sorry newbies to beta & RS, but I won't have direct dealings with anyone on beta or RS unless they've been active for 6 months. (Read below for why.
)
I filed a claim on PayPal and won but didn't receive any money either. I left it open to remind myself one of the reasons I only deal with PayPal anymore. They're great with claims.
Almost a year later, he attempted to use his PayPal account. I received an email stating "I got cash!"
I hope he was completely irritated.

I hope you left your dispute open. I had a guy sell me a matching sketch to one of my cels. Everything was going great until 3 weeks had passed. I emailed him and asked if he'd mailed it yet. No replies. Bounced back emails. RS gallery closed. But you have to remember that some people have very different schedules from the post office and are really busy. Everyone has a right to sell. It's simple to pay. It takes more time to send.Hisoka wrote:Lazy people really piss me off. I pay for everything right away and expect the same treatment in return. Let it be known that I'm HAPPY if I get something within 3 weeks. I don't nitpick about a week or two. But seriously, there is no excuse what so ever and nothing anyone could do to make me think otherwise. I've waited a month, 2 months, 3 months, 6 months, hell I've waited around a year for one to arrive. You mention the fact that schedules can interfere with post office hours which is valid. Some really don't stay open long at all and it's hard to get to. But you know when someone is BSing you and I don't think it's right. If someone were to keep me up to date and tell me they'll try to get it out as soon as they can then fine. That's the least someone who's taken your money can do. Am I right? Some people like taking the money and don't exactly live up to their end of the deal is all I'm saying. The saying "You get what you pay for" they should add 'unless it's the cel community'.duotrouble wrote:But you have to remember that some people have very different schedules from the post office and are really busy. Yeah, I agree with you. I think it's amazing you've waited months for a cel.
I'd say there had better been a good reason for that.
I think what you said just struck me poorly because of a recent bidder of mine. One day after they paid, I receive an email "did you send it yet?" They paid on a Saturday night. I don't know any post office open on Sundays.

That reminds me of one neutral feedback I got on ebay - the package 'took too long' to get to the buyer. They got it 10 days after the auction ended!duotrouble wrote:I think what you said just struck me poorly because of a recent bidder of mine. In the post offices over here they installed these machines where you ship stuff yourselfduotrouble wrote:I don't know any post office open on Sundays.

But they expect you to ship it so fast???

Anywho...I had not had any problem with any sellers and the shipping of my items...
However, with some buyers...ohhh...I've had

One person asked about an item, It was on hold for 3 weeks, then came back to ask about it then I have not heared from them...I won't waste time trying to reach the person...You either want it or not...In the past I've been too nice and I just email and some people and they don't answer

Dealing with it is just too much

Then there are the people that ask for a cel, then I ask them...do you really want it? They say yes and then they don't send anymore emails

Then there was this 1 ebay buyer that left me negative feedback (the only one I have ever received -_- s/he said:
"I was very disappointed with the item I received."
I replied with: "ITEM WAS EXACTLY DESCRIBED, the buyer should have READ THE ENTIRE DESCRIPTION!"
*_* Honestly, I can't believe that some people bid and don't pay attention to what what they bid on...then they ruin my feedback score >_<
But the good thing is that It's only been 3 people, and the rest are good experiences ^_^
When I sell a cel, I usually ship it within 5 days, on Monday or Friday...I want to ship it ASAP

I would not stop collecting because of a few people that ruin it...in LIFE some people always ruin it...so we must learn to live with it

OK I will say "yes and then they do not send anymore emails" to you.

Re: Complete and Utter Frustration
There was once when I purchased a wishlist of sorts in douga/genga form from another cel collector a few years back. They were very friendly, I paid promptly w/paypal, and they said they'd send it out within the next couple days. Then I waited, and waited, and waited.... It never showed up. After a bit over a month, I got tired of waiting and I became worried, and emailed them back asking what was going on, if I could get the tracking number or anything, cause it never showed up. Apparently, they hadn't send it out, but could do so in about a week or twos time, by then I was so dissenchanted by the whole thing that I just asked for my money back. I'd have really liked to have it, but, I dunno. I came to the point where I just became soured on it for quite some time. Perhaps the seller was having second thoughts about selling it at that price, maybe they were busy, I dont know.logorzat wrote:How many people have stopped collecting due to the complete lack of consideration by fellow collectors? Not quite the same thing, but I won an auction on ebay at about the opening bid. The seller's rules stated that I had to email them and recieve confirmation from them before I could send payment ect. I did. I waited a week - no response, emailed again a few more times, finally at around 3-4 weeks of no contact from them, I gave up on it. Oh well. I can live without it.
I've only had one case that I can remember where something (in the case of cels) ended up going missing... and that was on the way between the yj seller and the deputy. Only once out of several years isn't too bad. Except for one umm... unpleasant event happening a few months ago, I've been lucky enough to have spoken/been in contact with some very nice and patient people. ^_^
Shipping wise, it can sometimes take me up to a week to send things out -especially if it wasn't paid with by paypal (paypal allows postage to be paid and printed out on site). Thats because I have to make sure the weather is decent to walk out to the post office with my daughter (she's 2 now). Its a bit more difficult in the summer time, since I have to drag 3 (sometimes reluctant) kids along behind me and cross the towns 'main street' (busy road) to do it. The only time I can remember really delaying anything happened this year because I was extremely sick, my uncle had just died of pnemonia (secondary infection), and I was paranoid to hell and back about walking a bit over two miles in chilly springish weather while sick. Thankfully, the seller who I purchased from forgave my tardyness. If I had just went to the postoffice the next day after the end of auction, I would have been able to avoid all that though. I didn't get sick till roughly 2 days after >.<
Maybe it takes long for cel sellers to send packages out because they want to make sure they take it directly to the postoffice and make sure it doesn't get bent or crushed in a bin by other packages?
Also, I've found Meijier to be quite helpful -they allow for USPS shipment of domestic packages to be sent out 24/7, although they do charge a small fee tacked on to the shipping. Still, I used them a lot when I moved up here and was still distro'ing.
I hope you get the cels you paid for soon. If it has been a month or so, be sure to set it in motion before Paypal denies you the right to do so. They have a timelimit on when you can begin to set things in motion. At least this way, you can always get your money back in the worst case, and in the best situation, it will spur the seller to send out your cel w/tracking number before paypal completes the process. That is of course, if you've tried emailing them first -which I'm almost positive you mentioned earlier that you had. Good luck. I hope everything ends up all right.
