Well, I went ahead and bought it
... not that there was a lot of doubt to begin with. I just feel a strong emotional connection to the little Rakka figure that is very much like the feeling I have when I see a drawing or cel that I like. Plus I'm rewatching that show now, so that makes me a little more vulnerable.
But I've been so amazed looking at some of the fabulous non-cel collections everyone has. Pixie Princess has to have the definitive collection of Sailor Moon dolls; so pretty! And I really got stuck on looking at Keropi's autographs and comics, especially the Captain America's. And then there's Kymaera, who has a "few figures". Sheesh, no wonder you call yourself Heroine Addict!
So far, for me anyway, it basically comes back to the story-telling. Collecting seems to be a way to acknowledge and re-establish that initial strong emotion that I felt when first experiencing the story. Combine that with a little bit of an acquisitive nature, (OK, maybe more than a little bit) and pretty soon you have a room full of stuff and an empty wallet!

I used to love collecting plushies, so much so that I was obsessed when Inuyasha first aired in Japan and the first DX plushies became available imported that I tossed down almost $200.00 for a DX plush of Sesshy. I kid you not! That was back when I actually had money to burn for my obsession, before cels ever came into my life, and I was stupid, lol.
I've slowed my plushie collecting due to switching to cels. I also used to collect and assemble anime models kits, mainly Sailormoon or DBZ kits. But I haven't done those in about 5 years, still have several raw kits stored away.
I also had an obsession with washi dolls (little paper dolls). Here's one of my fave little sites showing some dolls.
I also love and want to collect vintage geisha dolls. I only have one beauty at the moment but hope to collect more in the future.

Do you have a very big collection?

The Three Laws of Robotics:
1. A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

On the original question, I collect trading cards, shitajiki, chirashi, post cards, lami cards, phone cards, etc. Other than cels, I pretty much collect anything that will fit in a three-ring binder. I collected trading cards for many years before even thinking I might someday be able to afford animation cels.
It's still one of my major hobbies. I sometimes buy other stuff like figures or plushies, but nothing expensive. At least, not yet.

I've been collecting gold and silver coins!
It's well worth collecting! I'm going to estimate that gold will be $1500usd and silver will be $25-$30usd per ounce!
