Herein lies the dilemma... :? (Not pointing out you specifically EOP)
Hence the public question. I can see both sides of this issue and what EOP mentions is relevant. Basically, I want to know if people would be ok with allowing in new entrants who were unaware of the event. This is not necessarily about adding new entries for the sake of adding new entries. Ideally, just using this as an example of my point, EOP knew about the event, the rules and the guidelines from the moment of the thread's inception. He chose to submit 3 (+1 animated) entries based on that knowledge.

Now, would that make the compromise more fair? If I allow new entrants at this point, should current entrants be allowed one more submission? Not an additional one, but one within the 5 entry limit.

Or, would increasing the entry limit to 6 for current entrants make it more fair? We could take a day or two to receive the additional submissions from the current entrants if they wanted to take advantage of this possible option. New entrants would have the 5 entry limit as a handicap for being tardy... maybe?

I'm being sincere here. If these are compromises that would make it more fair, please say so. Or, if the whole concept seems unfair, please say that as well. This feedback helps.

Re-thinking I came to a really fair solution that I think would be good.. (just suggested of course) As a penlty of being late (to those who have not submited yet..) perhaps a cap of 2 submissions should be enforced. This way they still get to participate in the beta awards and uploading and all that jazz will be quick. It seems like a really fair option to me (if this was the case i wouldn';t push for allowing those who didn't use all 5 the first time around (like myself) to be able to submit more.

I agree. Interesting comparison.

If we went with this idea, I might make the cap 3 tho. It would speed things up, allow new entrants and it instills a penalty for being late.

I don't want to alienate anyone or offend any of the current entrants.

This is getting complicated >.<

I am for either way, it's all good. My only concern is how assuming ppl who didn't know about the contest for the month(s) it was talked about will be informed now in the next 48 hours they can submit.

i'm all for alowing new entrants, this event is about fun and including more people is always good.

I don't care either way about allowing an additional submission, alothough i think it would be easyer not too.

This is a tricky one. While I see both sides I fully agree with Startyde. Besides...this has been posted for a longtime. There were two threads. One sticky and the other was initially a global announcement. Rules were placed to avoid further complications. Just seems like you're opening yourselves up for more work and further headache. Then again it's up to y'all who are organizing it in my opinion. I think it's awesome you're asking everyone, but you're going to get opinions on both sides of the fence here. I say you made the rules so you should decide if they change. It's you doing all the hard work for us. :bow :bow :bow :bow :bow /thx /thx /thx /thx

I agree with part of what you said and with WC.
New Participants: ok, capped at 3 entries

I disagree with the idea of letting people submit more entries since they already knew about the time limit, and you are limiting new participants entries, so why let the other people add more.

I am not participating, so I feel that I have an unbiased view.
These are just my thoughts on the topic.

Seems that lot of people are participating to the AB awards but not responding to your question WC regarding the extend and so.

Honestly if you want my point of view I think it is kind of late to postpone everything like the day before all the entries would have been public. I remember I missed the awards in 2005 for a day or 2 and never asked if I could get in or not. I mean rules are rules don't they ? The Beta awards 07 post have been running since late September, in my point this is already a long period. wELCOME cONSUMER I already told you, you are running this contest amazingly well, there is nothing on this side that someone could say. You are a really kind person so I guess that anyway you will extend the period. Dunno what you got by PMs but I guess that I am not the only against that idea. To cut the pear by 2 (french expression) this is what I propose. You may give 24 hours submit period, 1 cel only. For the participants that already gave their cels can not submit the ones missed (like 4 submitted and not 5).

You can shoot me now :whip ....
