Help please - Bakuretsu Hunters

Post by Gonzai »

I have a couple cels of Chocolate that I am going to
be selling, but since I know zero about bakuretsu hunters ,
I have no idea what kind of prices these would bring. I
know that TC was a bakuretsu hunters collector, however,
I don't think she is around anymore. :l Anyone else help??

On top of the fact that the second one has some major fanservice, it's also from the OVA, which means cels from it are rare. So, it'll go for higher than the other.

Unfortunately, I don't collect either, so I have no idea what the going rate is. I might venture a guess of $50-75 for the first and $125-$150 for the second, but I could be way off. Do you know if that's the matching background? I know you haven't seen the series, but there could be matching cut numbers on both the cel and the background that would clue you in. :)

Like Klet said, the top one is from the TV show and the second is from the OVA. I am pretty sure that the background does not match.

I tend to prefer the TV show over the OVA so the prices I would be willing to pay may be different from the norm. Personally, I'd say about $40-$60 for each of them. Like Klet says, the fan service may raise the cost of the bottom one but I don't know by how much.

I can't help so much for pricing, but I would suggest checking (if its possible) to find out how much you paid for them (unless your selling them for someone and in that case try and ask them how much they paid) and based on that price start the auction on eBay at that price. So if it sells at the very least you know you will be obtaining the amount of money you spent (or whoever your selling it for spent) and if it goes higher your making some profit off of it.

Actually EOP, that is the thing. She paid a ton for them
a long time ago. I think around $350 for the first one,
and $550 for the second. She doesn't know what the
market is anymore, but I am pretty sure she was hoping
to get $200 - $250 for the first, and $400 for the second.
I wondered if someone here knew how the market was
for BH - to see if she was being realistic, or if she doesn't
have a chance. @_@

sadly she probably wont get that amount for either. unless maybe a BH collector that really wanted them would pay those prices.

For comparison, I have this cel of a transformed Chocolate from the OVA. It is from the opening.

Image

I bought it 10-27-05 for about $180 plus deputy fees. The prices were already dropping then and so I am sure the seller was glad to get that price for it. The cels from this show don't come up often, but I am sure that they have dropped even more in the past two years. Even though your friend's cel is a nicer image, I doubt that it will get close to $400.

Another comparison would involve a possible hanken I bought. I say possible because the translation was not too clear. It was called a cel and a "not for sale" item that was used for a magazine. There was no mention of "member cel" so I do not think it is a fan cel despite its price. I am still waiting for the cel to arrive to confirm. Here is the seller's scan.

Image

As you can see from the seller's scan Chocolate is in the same out fit, but it sold for only about $43 plus deputy fees.

Wow, I remember those 2 cels. I originally saw them during Christmas (december 2004). One of them went for $175 and the other went for $150 on Ebay. The winner was roe43. I had tried to keep records of people and prices in the beginning when I didn't know anyone and I knew that should I ever make offers, I would at least have a grasp of what is a good offer or not. But in the end I decided that it was futile since bidding wars were common back then and even if you have an average price in mind, someone could have easily paid more or less. So it was better to just ask what people want with what I was interested in. In the end, I never did collect Baketsu Hunter Cels and a ton of other series lol. Plus, I was trying to make sense of who was who on beta, animanga, ebay & rubberslug.

Your friend must have gotten those cels down the pipeline after the original ebay winner. Thanks to Keropi for mentioning old records from a different thread, that's how I found out that I bought my first Sketch set from Saiyuki in September 6, 2004 (yeah, I keep old records, but I don't usually like going through them often X| )

graymouser: I don't think that is a Hanken, I saw one other like that and I think it came with a LD or something. I saved the auction link, but when I clicked on it, it went to an expired link. Sorry I don't have more information.

Hmmm,

Its very possible. I went for it even though I thought I could be wrong. I guess I'll find out when it arrives. Its strange that I haven't seen the image before now.
