Paypal issues
As some of you know, I'm currently in a land far far away.
I've been accessing my paypal account from here. I've made 4 payments, and during the last 2 (made on the same day), paypal decided to restrict my account and put a hold on the funds. Neither of these were particularly Huge amounts, but this was a major inconvenience for myself and the people I was working with. Especially due to the fact that I am not at home, and I was not able to verify my location in the normal way.
Now the last time that I made a big purchase (between $500 and $1000) using my credit card, my bank actually put a stop on my CC until I called in to verify the purchase.
With all the recent issues with paypal and the previous experience with my CC, I'm worried that another big purchase will have issues as well.
Do any of you have experience in this area? Do you have any recommendations on how to procede?
Is it possible to split a payment via paypal between two funding sorces (i.e. my bank and my CC)?
Do you have any PP horror stories?
Thank you!

Your Paypal and Bank Account are protecting you against fraud even though this may be a bother to you it is best to let your bank contact you to make sure you are the one purchasing the item!!!
Just to help prevent ;_; fraud!!! If your going to buy something expensive I would contact your bank and Paypal before hand so they know that your going to purchase an expensive item again and it is ok to let the payment go through!!!
Good Luck!!!

Good Luck!!!

Good luck to you too Carla.

Well, I don't know if it's really "horror", but I and several others had a heck of a time trying to pay Midori during AX2007 with Paypal. In my case, at first, the system would only allow me to send an E-check since it was a foriegn transaction. Then we had to cancel that payment so I could pay with debit. Then they put a block on my account until I called Paypal. After a 10 minute call, Paypal re-opened the account and allowed me to pay.
Then I received notification the next day from Midori that the payment was currently "on hold" awaiting notification from me. After one and a half hours on the phone with someone in India who apparently represented Paypal(and multiple reassurances that "I am me"), Paypal allowed the payment to process.
Yes, Paypal will allow you to pay in either debit or credit for the item, but you have to send in two seperate payments. So, pay x amount with your debit under one transaction and then whatever else with credit.
Hope this helps.

Try not to use paypal with big payments overseas... They do more then occasionally "restrict" your account.
I have never figured a way around it.
That could be the reason Mandarake doesn't take paypal.

Actually, I thought Paypal made a big issue about Mandarake's "adult items" and told them that they had to stop selling "inappropriate items and artwork" or they couldn't use the service. This was years ago. Mandarake will never stop selling "adult items/artwork" so unless Paypal changes the rules, using Paypal with Mandarake will not be an option.RoboFlonne wrote:Try not to use paypal with big payments overseas... A couple of years ago, I remember Visa and other Bank Cards started to really crack down on overseas payment and blocking transactions until the you called in. That's why Bidpay got shut down due to fraudulent transactions (overseas and mainly from singapore and a few other countries), after a year or 2 later, a new company had bought out Western Union for Bidpay and now their policy is insanely strict (but good for large volume ebay sellers since their fees are a little bit less).

LOL, sometimes you say the funniest things. Paypal can't just look at each individual transaction and say what is acceptable and what isn't. Paypal is about making money, they wouldn't spend more effort than they have to.RoboFlonne wrote:Lol... Is that why? OMG>.... lol.... Can't they just make it so that I can pay for cels that way... You can't even pay with Paypal for anything in the Mature Audience section of Ebay either. Plus there is so many guidelines as what you can and can not put in that category. Ex. My wife had won a really nice shitajiki of an anime guy and girl in an embrace, the only thing exposed was one of her nipples (please! I see frontal nude Ryoko's from Tenchi Muyo), but because it was placed in the Mature Audience Section of Ebay, we weren't allowed to pay by Paypal.
Also, if you put something in the Mature Audience section of Ebay, you're not even allowed to mention the word Paypal in any part of the description or it won't be placed up for auction. Plus no Mature Audience items can be listed as a store inventory.
I was so annoyed by the Paypal bit that I read the rules page for that particular issue. I found a way around it in the end and still paid by paypal.

Sister...I have had so many issues with paypal and my bank over the past month. If I could just throw the two away, I would. I'm hoping that my issues will get resolved soon...although I do not hold out much hope
