Asian TV

Post by Noriko010884 »

Hi

I'm really interested in getting into Asian TV shows. I've got a little list already formed, mostly Korean dramas/romance/comedies.

Does anyone here watch any asian TV shows? Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Taiwanese.. anywhere from the east. If so could you take the time to review and rate from 1 (poor) to 5 (excellent) what you've seen so that I may discover more titles which would be of interest?

Thank you for taking the time to read and hopefully even reply to this thread! Arigatou! ^_^

I'm into Korean drama serials.....I watch some Jap, Chinese and Taiwanese occasionally but yea, Kdrama is my current fave.

Maybe you can let me know what kind of shows you like and I can recommend you some titles :)

I've not seen any yet but I want to get Summer Scent and Winter Sonata. Couple or Trouble sounds fun, and Sassy Girl, Chun Hyang seems pretty popular.
Autumn in My Heart is supposed to be real romantic.
I should look at the names of the actors to determine the origin of individual series, but I'd like to see My Lovely Sam Soon.
I want to see some of Rain's work, so Sang Doo! Let's Go To School and A Love To Kill I'm looking into getting.

I like comedy, I like romance, drama.. I plan to cry. haha.

If it involves handsome Korean men it's good, no matter if it's gossip or not.

I loved the following J-Drama's:

Hana Yori Dango seasons 1 & 2 (I give season 1 a 5 rating, season 2 a 4 rating; season 2 somehow felt rushed to me :? Maybe I should watch the anime or read the manga)
Hanazakari no Kimitachi e (Super funny!! Definitely a 5! I loved this one.)
First Kiss (4 rating, somewhat funny and romantic)
Sore Wa Totsuzen Arashi no You Ni (or in english 'It was sudden like a storm'; 4 rating, gotta love a hot high school bishie & middle age woman love triangle, lol!)

Couldn't agree with you more! :D

And I enjoy watching them having no idea what's on going. I can make up my own stories. :^^:

Here are some Kdramas I would recommend:

My Girl - Funny romantic, the leads are all gorgeous. Look out for Lee Jun Ki, the pretty boy who shot to super stardom from 'The King's Guy'.

My Sassy Chun Hyung - Very cute couple. Great soundtrack!

Love Truly/ Really really Like You - very funny. Fantastic chemistry b/w the actors.

I'm Sorry I Love You - Sweet and angsty. Solid acting. Get ready your hankies for some weeping. I love the actor So Ji Sup, he is really gd.

Hotelier - Bae Yong Gun before Winter Sonata....wonderful pecs hehe Gives an interesting sneak at the hotel industry.

All Abt Eve - One of those Kdramas that started the whole craze. Jang Dong Geun is like the archtypical perfect guy.

For stellar classics, watch Jewel in the Palace and Jumong. Their ratings were phenomenal.

Watch My Lovely Samsoon and Goong, juz to see what the fuss is abt. Personally I found them a lil' overhyped but they are not w/o merits. Watch and judge for yourself :)

I'm currently enjoying Dalja's Spring.

Oh one more thing, for Hong Kong drama. I strongly recommend War and Beauty, it's abt imperial concubines during the Qing Dynasty and the games they play. Good script and loads of beauties to oogle at.

Kdrama fans, pls feel free to PM if you wana chat
