My favorite is still the stylized opening to ‘Dirty Pair-Project Eden’, but Youtube got rid of it :(
I still agree with my lists in Do you watch the OPs & EDs and Top 20 Anime OPs but those lists are too long to go into each OP …

So I’ll mention these two again...

Metal Jack (TV)

Quick cutting, speed lines, and peppy music, I consider this to be a timeless opening.
It's the very definition of a kid Action Anime:

It starts with the silhouetted heroes posed in spandex suits; it moves on to their action packed professions; showcases the rivalry between the number 1 and number 2 guys; sweet little kids are taken hostage by masked villains and saved by the heroic trio; bad guys appear in their own posed scene; each of the trio has their own super powered 'bot; and it ends with a posed scene of the good guys.

I think it's a great opening and it couldn't have been better for what this show is.

Bakumatsu Kikansetsu Irohanihoheto (TV)

It has this great preamble to the opening showing a sword and essentially saying, 'Bakumatsu, the time when Men were Men.' :badass

There are pretty scenes of the characters posing against beautiful interiors and exteriors, and there's the sense of a camera zooming in and out, as the characters move back in space. There’s some nice symbolism of the sword cutting a cherry blossom in two (splitting something apart), and windswept figures standing in a churning sea of blood; and the end foreshadows the conflict of the main couple.

There is a ‘not so great’ scene of all the other characters appearing and then sliding into the background behind the hero (sorta like, 'and there's a bunch of other characters, too'), but I think the rest of the op makes up for this one uninspired moment.

… add these two…

Hurricane Polymar (OVA)

It celebrates the stylized comic roots of Anime.
The theme song, as well as the colors, and the character designs, are updated and yet reminiscent of the1970s, showing a link between now and then.

God Bless Dancougar (OVA)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ynIoNkZ3Vo
I like how it showcases 1980s Anime machinery (the dark shiny metal, the consoles covered in switches, and the screens of blueprints) while not having any posed character headshots to take attention away from the mecha.

…and end with a timeless ending:

City Hunter .357 Magnum (OVA-Ending)

James Bond-ish looking ending, with less stylized looking characters, featuring an attractively designed strong man and feminine woman.
