Interesting thought I was contemplating the other day... I know many individuals here perfer cels over sketches (note: not talking about hanken sketches or anything like that, simply comparing sketches to cels).
Well a few months ago I did just this. I traded a cel for a sketch. They where of different series (ill give you a hint on the sketch though, its what I focus on lol) and the cel (can't tell.. its not displayed on there site.)
I of course was very pleased with the transaction as I perceive sketches actually better then cels (I like to think when i look at the other side of the piece of art it doesn't look like a 4 year old in paint class )
So Have you ever traded a Cel for a sketch? (of different series)

I knew the owner loved PSME so I asked if she was willing to trade it for my PSME sketch collection. I knew she would love them more than I ever could. I absolutely love PSME which is why I bought them in the first place but I just never loved them like I did my cels. Not a sketch person I guess, I can appreciate them just never seem to love them.

I did! I did! I had two CCS cels of Touya crossdressed as Cinderella dancing with Youko (the girl who's infatuated with him). And I traded one to Spinizuey (where did she go?) for this wonderful TnN A1 genga of Mikael passing through the Jasmine Jelly (and the A2 as well).
I never regretted it, especially after I managed to snag the A12 END cel from the Jasmine Jelly cut, since I got to keep the crossdressed Touya I really liked (he's smiling!)
Nice gengas rule! Especially as they are more stable than the cels, which these days more and more prove to be damaged or severely line-faded when they arrive.

No I haven't. The closet thing was someone offered to buy a cel from me and I ended up selling it, only to turn around a week later and buy their fantastic Spike Shusei Genga
i traded the flower from miyuki-chan in wonderland with rei for her pan sketches of shigure reading his newspaper from ep 1. i later sold them to ducky though.

No, I tend not to trade because I'd mourn the loss of my artwork, even if it were replaced with something equally appealing.
Even selling something outright is difficult for me and the only way I can distance myself from the artwork is if I already have a sequence-mate [so I don't feel I'm loosing out] or if I offer my entire series collection closing that whole chapter on my collection. I did that with Armitage III and although it initially felt odd, I knew the cels were being appreciated by its new owner and I also felt 'free' of its hold over me! Now, no matter how beautiful a cel might be from that series, even offered at a very low price, I wouldn't buy it.
Out of the gloom a voice said unto me;
"Smile and be happy, things could be worse".
So I smiled and was happy
and behold;
things did get worse...

Nope, not yet. There's only one series that I really "collect" in sketches (and it's hard to tell, since I don't have any of my artwork up yet ) and it would have to be a pretty cheap cel . . . or a lot of sketches.
I have never done that, but not because I like cels better than sketches or anything like that. I just don't really trade too often. I have only traded one time in the last 9 or so years I have been collecting. There are certain sketches that I would trade my entire cel collection for.
