If this is an actual production cel, why in the world would you set your starting price at ten bucks?!
There's several more up here, and I'm suspicious.
Anyone have any ideas?

Looks ligit, nothing wrong with starting a price low. Hell I have seen cars / rare coins that have very low starting bids (9.99) and easily exceed the 1k mark. If its popular / rare then there is no need to pay the extra insertion fee.

It was their last cel-based feature. I agree that they look legit - and the Disney seals on a few of themkira wrote:i agree with eop that they look legit.
though i kinda agree with sletia because i thought this was done in cgi. i could be wrong on that.
definitely don't hurt the claim; unlike the Pierrot ones, those things are embossed into the acetate.
When you know that something will go up, it makes sense to tempt people by opening with a low
starting bid. If nothing else, dealers will try to get their hands on some! The only one I'd really hesitate
at all on would be the 1933 Father Noah's Ark cel, because the seller is unsure. But whatever it is, it's
worth more than $9.99 on the cuteness factor alone!

They look real to me . . .
Really makes me wish I actually had money.
Prince and the Pauper and Little Mermaid were some of my favorites growing up. Brings back memories of playing mermaid with my sister . . . and we tried to eat some seaweed . . . which was my mom's hair . . . and unfortunately still attached to her head.
Good times, good times.
Really makes me wish I actually had money.

I'm pretty sure those cels are from the Little Mermaid TV series...
Cels from that tend to go for a lot less money, which could explain the opening price. And often, people who don't know what they're dealing with think that TV cels are from the feature film, since some scenes were recycled (but were re-made to match the TV series style)
Just because it is paired with a copy background from the movie doesn't mean it's actually FROM the movie. I would be suspicious of ANY organization that started the bidding for a well-known Disney character so low without a reserve. Unless they're just trying to clean out their inventory and don't care what the auction ends at?
Although their prices are usually astronomical, I think I'd trust Animation Sensations more. They are at least a reputable dealer.

Your arguments are good... but they're from the movie. The first cel is from shortly after the shipwreck,ReiTheJelly wrote:I'm pretty sure those cels are from the Little Mermaid TV series...
the second is from "Kiss the Girl", the third is from when her father turns her human, and the last is
Flounder watching a crying Ariel as her prince's wedding ship sails away. Surprisingly, the backgrounds do
match.
And yeah, I know the difference between the TV cels and the film cels; I collected the feature for
a little while. Then my wallet died.
