Well, I haven't been collecting for that long, but one thing that always gets me pumped up is receiving a multiple-item sketch lot in the mail. Usually, only 3 or so sketches are pictured in the auction, so it's kind of hit or miss what you get beyond that.
Sometimes, there are such great sketches that I wonder why the seller didn't picture them instead! Anyway, it's always exciting to go through the lot for the first time, a real treasure hunt!
Exciting prospects- what gets your blood pumping?

I agree with Cenbe. It's a lot of fun to go through a sketch set. Often on websites, you only get to see 1 of the images, sometimes 2-3 if you're lucky. So it can be really fun to finally get them in your hands and you can really see what you purchased.
The one time that I thought that my heart was going to leap out of my chest, I came across a large group of never before seen (by me) sketches and the idea of actually having to choose some an leave the rest was just unthinkable. So I actually withdrew the money from my savings account and bought them all.
That was exciting. Then the very necessary feeling of "OMG what did I just do? What was I thinking?" sank in, but it subsided again when I got them back to my room and got the chance to linger on each of my new purchases.

To tell the truth, I have not seen a cel in at least a year that has gotten my blood pumping. However, the occasional art piece does pop up. I really enjoy seeing something that I did not expect to see. For example...

I've been a fan of James' art for two decades now. I've got several nice pieces of his Crow artwork. However, I really enjoy it when he does pieces like this. I am a fan of his art, and not necessarily the Crow. It's rare that he does non-Crow pieces, so this one made me VERY excited when I saw it on eBay. I was the only bidder, and got it for a final total of $291. A 36x24 painting by James O'Barr for under $300! Well, that just added to my joy. I just got it framed, and it hangs on my wall proudly.

Time is but an illusion. Lunch time...doubly so.

Here's what gets my blood pumping:
a. Any high quality cels from series I collect are put up for auction or sale. Sometimes, there's a long period of drought and suddenly, one seller juz releases many great cels at one go. Now, juz admiring all the cels is pleasure enough.
b. When collectors with wonderful collections open their galleries for offer or decide to stop collecting a certain title. I'm not hoping for money crunch to hit anyone, that's a very sucky experience. Juz that many of the good cels are now in private collections.
c. When a cel I missed out on previously resurfaces in the market again. I can remember those that slipped out of my grasp as far back as 8 yrs ago.
d. When I'm able to afford the cels when they are available
It's the adrenalin rush that makes this hobby so addictive and fun. The thing is you never know what is gonna pop up so it's very useful to have reserves ready.

Nice responses, everyone!
'Wishlist' tends to be on most people's agenda and I can heartily agree having just satisfied several High and Very High priority wishlist items today!!
They were items on my RS Wishlist page form JoJo's Adventure and browsing through the 23 Cut folders of sketches, I was VERY excited. I even made an animated gif of one cut because I couldn't resist
You see the 10-frame Gif I made of Jotaro Kujo here, bear in mind this image is 403kb in size. The preview frame below is 14kb.

The oracle says: Might happen.

The Three Laws of Robotics:
1. A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

I can sing its praises all day long but that doesn't mean another person will enjoy it. Like everything, we all have our own tastes. It's only a 13-part OVA so it won't take long to watch, 6 episodes were made in 1993 and the 7-part prequel series came along in 2001, where this douga set came from. For a little more info visit the JoJo's Adventure Wikipedia pageRoboFlonne wrote:Beautiful Douga animation!!! I haven't seen that anime! [Re: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure] Do you think I'll like it?
Out of the gloom a voice said unto me;
"Smile and be happy, things could be worse".
So I smiled and was happy
and behold;
things did get worse...
