Saw the movie last night. It was a good movie, totally worth seeing.

The only things that bugged me were:

Why did he not have a gun strapped to every wall and every corner of his house? Knowing what was out there I would have firearms comming out the you know what! EVERYWHERE

When in the lab, why would ne NOT have UV lights installed in the ceiling? He kept rat and human subjects down there, you'd think that he'd have some sort of kill all bad ass intense UV lights set up in the ceiling, his lab had many independant generators in there he could have held out till morning easily.

And lastly, why did he fall for that trap? Seeing something extremely out of the norm like that would make anybody extremely cautious, why would he walk right up to it like that? He already knew they were starting to come into the light to get him, I would have just expected a good old fashioned bum rush out of the hole to drag him into the darkness.

I thought the same thing regarding some sort of failsafe in the lab. UV lights in the ceiling. Gas to kill everything in the room on that side of the glass. Not very well prepared at all.

AS for the trap, I can kind of understand. He was not all that right in the head from being alone for so long. He might have thought that someone else had moved Fred. Kind of a stretch, I know.

I did enjoy the movie. The dog scene was hard to watch.

I thought Will Smith did an amazing job portraying Nevel's struggle to keep his sanity and hopes up.
I agree w/ Brian (on the fred mannequin bit). I just took it as a man who was losing his marbles.

poor Sam...

yea hands down, first good movie I've seen in a while!

My only regret was that they used cg for the infected people.
I wish they had just used real folks and put hollywood makeup
on them like Dawn of the Dead . film
It just felt too much like "The Mummy"
I think if they would have used extars and stunt crew it
would hav had a more realistic feel.

P.S.
Did anyone else notice that the 'hot' female mannequin
at the video rental place was standing infront of the p0rno section?

"is she in the prono section?"

"yup"

Did anyone else not get the idea that the mutants were not really vampires? I felt that they were just really mutants. Which made it better in my opinion.

Ah yes, they were not strictly cannibals either. Just hungry mutants.

Also I was REEEEEEEEEEAAAALY hoping to see what happened with the mutant he cured. Would she remember her past life? Would she remember being a mutant? Ooh I so wanted to know!

In the end I would actually like to see this again, maybe I'll take some friends

... the ending was a lot more positive than how I heard the 1954 Richard Matheson book ended. I heard that in the book he committed suicide when he realized that the vampires were the new future of humanity. The old order, including himself, would be remembered as nothing more than scary stories and legends.

Its definitely worth seeing.

Personally I'd say it wasn't a remake, I think of it as a new, different movie with similar elements.

Yeah your probably right.

Either way its a good movie. They make it look easier than it really is to have only one actor on screen for most of the 2+ hours.

Yup I base movies on that even though I know its fake lol damn animal lover in me. Although I do want to read the story... ^^;;

on IMDB the users literally carried on a 12-15 page thread just
on the damn dog LOL!

To the point where they started to argue about it.

Apparently a handful were 'outraged' about the dog
scene (seriously, its not that bad).
In the end I thought it was silly.

It is a movie afterall-- should never deter you if
you are *really* curious to see it.

Besides, you can always turn on animal planet and
see the SPCA show and see them get rescued to give
ya that warm fuzzy feeling afterwards.

I'm a big fuzz-ball lover myself, still can't watch the
Meerkat Manor show. Anytime I switch it on, one of em
dies and I end up crying for 5 mins straight like a
&^@# lol!

You bring up a good point. It's pretty much universally agreed upon that if Michael Vick had beaten his wife instead of dogs, or even killed her, it most likely wouln't have generated the outrage that the dogs did. Ppl are getting pretty sick.

To me animals are completely innocent within their own means. Humans on the other hand, know what the hell they are doing and are assholes. Id rather see a stupid jock get sliced up than an animal XD But this is my personal opinion on movies with such content.
