Have faith in our young people...
Seems like all you hear these days is about how bad kids are. How stupid they are. How disconnected they are. I asked my reading classes this year not to buy me any gifts. Insted, I asked them to bring me money to donate to the Salvation Army Angel Tree fund. My promise to them? I would match their donations dollar for dollar. Well, in the two days I collected, they raised $131. I took their money and went to the local Wal Mart where Angel Tree was set up. I sponsored eight kids and got them all gifts. In the end, here is what my classes accomplished.

Time is but an illusion. Lunch time...doubly so.

The Three Laws of Robotics:
1. A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

That is really great! It's a wonderful to help others, but you also taught your class to do the same.
I enjoyed going shopping for Toys for Tots. Buying toys is a lot of fun, especially when you think of all the fun they're going to get out of it.
But for those teens that just wanted shoes, I'm glad that someone like you was able to help them.

Good job!
All the employees at my work donate money into a charity fund. I'm one of four people on the steering commitee who decides where the money gets spent and am a gopher for getting things done.
This year we bought coats for needy kids (two hundred twenty in all). I met with principles, superintendents, nurses, and CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) members to get these coats to kids. In the end 150 coats went out to cold kids, now we are currently working with battered women's shelters to drop off more coats.
When everybody does a little, a lot gets done and it' spart of the reason this time of year is special.

This year I sent some items to a family of a fellow Beta member. I hate to see kids go without something to unwrap on Christmas and hopefully, I was able to make a small difference.
It's nice to read what other Beta members do for others around the holidays. I'm really touched by all your stories and happy to see that a few more people were able to have a brighter holiday due to your efforts.
Yeah!

Thank you Blueheaven for taking your time to introduce the children to social responsibility and the realization that not everyone is fortunate to have even the basic necessities at Christmas time. As a teacher, I know you aren't paid what you are worth, and matching what the children raised was a wonderful example of your own generosity.

Do you think I could ever be a teacher he or she know you are not paid what you are worth and matching what the children raised was a wonderful example of your own generosity?
