What was yer haul this year?

Post by blueheaven »

Every since I started my career at 26, my want list for Christmas has gotten smaller and smaller. My mother joked by saying, "You know you're getting old when..." I replied, "You know you have an income when..." This year, I just asked my family for a few DVD's. Well, they wanted to surprise me this year, so they got me four DVD's...

Harry Potter and the OOTP
POTC: AWE
Ratatouile
The Bourne Ultimatum

...and they lowered the boom with a brand new iPhone! I was totally not expecting it, nor had I even hinted at wanting one(I never even considered it to be honest). I have been playing with it for a day now and it is just awesome.

I gave my mother some sweaters and scarves from Old Navy, and her boyfriend an air purifier(he has allergies).

So, what did you get for the holidays this year? And, what did you give?
Time is but an illusion. Lunch time...doubly so.

For the last three or four years, I only want to ask people for donating money for Humane society or ASPCA or animal shelters. So now all my in-laws started donating various places such as helping less fortunates. So for my gifts, I got all donations and a trip to London from my in-law parents. We made DVDs from old pictures to my in-law parents, and for neases and nephues, we gave toys and princes dresses, for others, we donated for them (of course, we asked them before hand). So now in our family for most of us, we donate money for christmas.....

Yeah that's right. Why now? How many do you have?

Like you, BH, my Christmas list was very brief, a few Samurai Executioner manga and Hanzo The Razor DVD boxset [because Shintaro Katsu is one of my fave Japanese actors].
I was fortunate to get the DVD set from my brother and my parents donated some cash into my Tattoo fund along with a dozen bottles of speciality ale.

The family were pleased with the gifts I had for them too which was pleasing. I hope my Mum takes to Watercolur painting as she received a set of paints/brushes/pallete/board etc. Because my Dad likes gadgets I got him a wireless energy monitor, a digital gauge that tells you how much electricity your household is using and where you can save on expenses/cut down on your 'carbon footprint' etc.

I like giving gifts best and actually feel a little guilty/humbled when I receive something.
Out of the gloom a voice said unto me;
"Smile and be happy, things could be worse".
So I smiled and was happy
and behold;
things did get worse...

My husband gave me a beautiful handcarved Nativity set. All their outfits are styled after quilt patterns - it's so cute! I gave him a new Norelco razor; he's been needing a new one for quite a while. My dad gave us a new 32" flatscreen TV. I gave some beanies to my youngest sister, a CD to my second younger sister, and a vanilla scented bathset to my younger sister. I also gave my dad a new marble rolling pin (he loves to cook!)

It was a great Christmas. Got lots of candy and stuff!

Kittens, I'm so glad to hear that there are more people donating gifts. ^_^
Save a few gift cards towards school books, my Xmas presents contributed to the WWF.
And NO, the WWF isn't what's now referred to as the WWE, lol.

*Total Glomp to Kittens and Mat* Awesome stuff! ^_^ I do the same myself and always try to donate at least $50 to an animal fund. This year I adopted a Polar Bear and gave some money to the Humane Society of SA. The more funding and money the Humane Society has, the more comfort and fun the animals have while waiting to be adopted ^_^

As some of you know, I am going for animal conservation for one of my degrees and animals are a huge part of my life. I really congradulate everyone who donates for christmas, not just to animals but to charities all over.

I also bought a child one of those XO Laptops :)

I got Bro a funny T-shirt and a 360 game. Mom got a Christmas cookbook and a basket full of bath stuff to pamper herself. Dad got a electric drill he's wanted/needed for a while.

My favorite gift this year was mom and dad adopted a sea lion in my name. His name is Chippy and he's just super cute. I got a collection of animated Christmas movies, some highlighters, a nice pen, and a small note pad, as well as a cook-book my mom put together filled with some of the favorite recipes that were family favorites growing up. =)
