1. The best thing that’s happened to your gallery.
My gallery layout hasn't changed since I opened it. However, you can now find screen caps to accompany most of my Fruits Basket collection, so I guess that counts.

2. The most surprising thing that happened to your gallery.
The Amount of sketches that I now have surprises me. I didn't think that so much would become available.

3. Thing that concerns you about your collecting experience.
The amount of fraud that takes place worries me, but I have been lucky enough to not experience it first hand yet.

4. A cel/sketch-related resolution for 2008.
I don't have a very strong resolve in any area, but I'll try.
I will try not to go into debt for sketches. (but I suppose that depends on ones definition of debt...)
Ok, I will not spend any one savings account on sketches.

5. Did you stay true to your cel/sketch-related resolution posted in 2007?
I didn't have one in 2006, but if I did it probably would have sounded something like, "add as much FB to my collection as humanly possible". So, I would have to say that I have met my previous goal.

The best thing that’s happened to your gallery.

I -finally- got me a Fred Luo! *loves Fred to pieces and is eternally grateful to Cindy*

The most surprising thing that happened to your gallery.

I won 1st place in the fan-art category of the Beta awards. I totally wasn't expecting any awards, but to win first... that was just awesome.

Thing that concerns you about your collecting experience.

This may sound weird to those who can drop $500+ on a cel and not think twice about it. But, one of my concerns is how easily I was able to jump to spending $250 or more on a cel and not even think about it. Just thinking that I can spend more than my than what i spend on food for one month on one cel was just weird... but this concern is just the culmination of all the crap that has happened to me this year.

A cel/sketch-related resolution for 2008.

First thing I want to do is clear out every cel on my sales page, then I want to completely revamp my RS gallery.

Did you stay true to your cel/sketch-related resolution posted in 2007?

thats kind of hard to say since I didn't post it in the forum. =\

1. The best thing that’s happened to your gallery.

I updated my webpages. It's good to update sometimes.

2. The most surprising thing that happened to your gallery.

1. I only bought three cels in 2007. I didn't think I would buy many cels this year, but I figured I would buy at least five by years end. Cels just aren't as interesting because I've been collecting from those shows for a long time already. :shrug

2. That I got some artwork from shows I earlier never thought I would (meaning I branched out into other series). I was kind of forced into it though because of the way how I collect and because of how my interests fade and vacillate.

3. Thing that concerns you about your collecting experience.

1. That there aren't many new series sketches anymore.

2. One of these days I'm going to have to make a flowchart on who doesn't get along with who. Sometimes you forget until the geyser blows.

4. A cel/sketch-related resolution for 2008.

The first part is the same as last year:
1. "Only go for items I feel COMPELLED to purchase"

I'll add this:
2. Decide as soon as possible if you want to collect from something or not.

5. Did you stay true to your cel/sketch-related resolution posted in 2007?

Yes I did. I don't regret getting anything I've acquired in 2007. No "Akiha head" purchases for me this year. :P And whether those sketches are "real" or not, I like them just the same. lol :^^:

1. The best thing that’s happened to your gallery.
Its growing nicely, though direction seems to be dictated more by supply rather than choice as of late. No complaints though.

2. The most surprising thing that happened to your gallery.
Nothing really, if something changes in the gallery, it was me tweeking the code, so no real surprises.

3. Thing that concerns you about your collecting experience.
Need for better storage, really want to get a flat file, but they're spendy.

4. A cel/sketch-related resolution for 2008.
Same as always, find some cool stuff.

5. Did you stay true to your cel/sketch-related resolution posted in 2007?
I'm not fond of resolutions, my needs & state of mind tend to change so I really have no intention to decide my path for a year in advance because I know it will change.

LOL, that's so typical of you, Keropi, I could just pinch your cheek. Keep making those lists :)

The best thing that’s happened to your gallery
It's good that more artwork has been put up over the year.

The most surprising thing that happened to your gallery
It still gets a steady flow of visitors even though I don't update or advertise often.

Thing that concerns you about your collecting experience
I buy too much, too often.

A cel/sketch-related resolution for 2008
Keep scanning and get the images online. Document how many cels/sketches I buy and their cost.

YES! The promised site redesign came to fruition in the Autumn
Out of the gloom a voice said unto me;
"Smile and be happy, things could be worse".
So I smiled and was happy
and behold;
things did get worse...

1. The best thing that’s happened to your gallery.
I finally found a gallery software that I was able to manipulate to use as a cel gallery! It took me a long time trying out many different ones before settling on this one that does everything I want and I think is perfect for my cels and sketches even if it's not as easily customizable as RS nor as fast. I'm a control freak when it comes to this so this is just perfect.

2. The most surprising thing that happened to your gallery.

I thought my collecting of Saitou would dwindle to nothing since no one updates, nothing is usually for sale, etc. etc. , instead I found more pieces to add to my collection! Actually this year I saw several dream cels happen! And also my RK collection is getting better I think. Yay!

3. Thing that concerns you about your collecting experience.
Lately I've been teetering on disappearing. Not quitting just vanishing.

4. A cel/sketch-related resolution for 2008.
Get two of my dream cels........ This year is the year...

5. Did you stay true to your cel/sketch-related resolution posted in 2007?
Sometimes yes and sometimes no. But most of the time, I was able to stick to my price assessments of cels and not run after them when they go crazy on auction. But this doesn't apply to wolfie-kun. He's insufferable.

1. The best thing that’s happened to your gallery.
I opened my gallery in late October. :)

2. The most surprising thing that happened to your gallery.
The whirlwind of beautiful cels I was able to collect in the past few months and add to my gallery, including two Berserk cels and one from Xenogears. Some of them I thought perhaps never I would be able to own.

3. Thing that concerns you about your collecting experience.
Hmm, I'm worried about the cost of certain cels, and the extent to which other collectors bid against me. ;) I'm also concerned about the scarcity of cels from certain series.

4. A cel/sketch-related resolution for 2008.
To try to buy only those cels that truly interest me.

1. The best thing that’s happened to your gallery.

the best thing... i was able to afford my hobby this year. i have had to sell a few of my cels in the past to fund new purchases. i feel very happy and lucky that i didnt have to do much liquidating.

2. The most surprising thing that happened to your gallery.

i picked up a new 'series' (classic toei).

3. Thing that concerns you about your collecting experience.

this being an expensive hobby, my biggest concern has been my budget. 2006 was brutal for me, so i was carefully watching my spending.

4. A cel/sketch-related resolution for 2008.

to stay away from impulse buys.

5. Did you stay true to your cel/sketch-related resolution posted in 2007?

i didn't 'post' a resolution last year. if i had, it probably would have been to spend less money on cels, which i did. i didnt have to eat my weight in ramen.

1. The best thing that’s happened to your gallery.
I feel like I'm catching up with updating...that I don't have as much stuff that isn't sitting around without being scanned/photographed.

2. The most surprising thing that happened to your gallery.
Probably not really a surprise, but I'm still a little amazed to have purchased zero cels in 2007. I was sure I had bought one, but I looked at my records and that cel was purchased in 2006. I also crossed off a number of wish/wantlist items. I actually sat down and re-did my gallery theme. 8O I added some production art gifts from friends, not relative-related.

3. Thing that concerns you about your collecting experience.
Most of my purchases were from the beginning to the middle of 2007. I've hardly bought anything lately. The trend of less and less appearing from newer shows continues, which makes me feel less motivated to watch anime, which gives me less new series I feel like collecting. :(

5. Did you stay true to your cel/sketch-related resolution posted in 2007?
Yes and no. I rescanned everything that I could that still had small images from my previous gallery. At most, I only bought a couple iffy items, one of which was dirt cheap. Besides a couple cel bag purchases, I didn't improve the state of my storage situation, particularly for my sketches.

4. A cel/sketch-related resolution for 2008.
Continue to be strict on myself, even if it means I hardly purchase anything related to production artwork in 2008. Continue to work on better storage for my artwork, boxes, portfolios, sleeves, etc.

1. The best thing that’s happened to your gallery.

Opening my gallery and finding so many pieces to add to it this year.

2. The most surprising thing that happened to your gallery.

Finding those lovely Escaflowne, Iria, and Yu Yu Hakusho cels to add to my gallery.

3. Thing that concerns you about your collecting experience.

I love every cel and sketch I see and can only afford ~ 1%.

4. A cel/sketch-related resolution for 2008.

I'm 100% sticking to wishlist cels/sketches. Unless it's in my/my girlfriend's top 10, I won't think twice about purchasing it.

5. Did you stay true to your cel/sketch-related resolution posted in 2007?

N/A b/c I didn't have one.

1. The best thing thats happened to your gallery.

I got to re-open it as a joint gallery

2. The most surprising thing that happened to your gallery.

Was able to add more cels than sketches!
:OMG:
Ranma 1/2 goodies galore!.

3. Thing that concerns you about your collecting experience.

More asshats/flakes/deadbeats in the hobby :flipa and the fact
I haven't been able to K.I.T w/ my close friends here as much as I
was able to years before. :bawl

4. A cel/sketch-related resolution for 2008.
Trying to stick to 1-2 purchase a month--

1. The best thing that’s happened to your gallery.

Hm. Well, I came into a really cool Hey Arnold cel. I also got selling offers from people, which has never happened before.

2. The most surprising thing that happened to your gallery.

I don't really know, I guess the surprising thing was collecting from Aqua Age and Tonde Buurin, two shows I've never even SEEN before, and probably never will see at this rate :/

3. Thing that concerns you about your collecting experience.

I feel like I shouldn't be spending money outside of my "top" shows, even if it means going several months without a new cel. I feel bad that my collection is growing, but not really in the way I want it to.

4. A cel/sketch-related resolution for 2008.

LIMIT what you get, focus ONLY on your top shows.

5. Did you stay true to your cel/sketch-related resolution posted in 2007?

I didn't participate.
