Flight of Dragons

Post by Laoul »

Hey, guys! This is a movie I grew up with and I would love to own a cel from it. Do any of you own a Flight of Dragons cel you'd be willing to part with? Thanks!

Flight of Dragons is cool but I've seen very few cels from it. A couple of Peter the Dragon were auctioned on Mandarake a while back, keep checking those online auctions- preferably Yahoo Auctions Japan, Mandarake and Ebay.

Good luck on that-

Those of us who have been lucky enough to find some spent years looking, and pretty pennies. Moreover, we're holding on pretty tightly.

I do wish you luck, though, as even if someone else beats me to some of them, I'd rather see them in someone else's gallery rather than not at all.

And Krafty, I never saw those auctions on Mandarake ( depends on my mood. Some weeks I check Mandy auctions fervently, and other times I go for week without taking a look, so I must have missed them ), do you by chance, remember about what the ending prices/bids were?

Afraid not; I saw the live auctions at the time but didn't monitor what the bidding was like or what they closed at. It's not a title I keep tabs on since I only have a casual interest because I can pick out the characters and enjoy the story. It's a movie I know quite well because I rented it several times between the age of 6-8 and I like to watch it whenever it's on TV nowadays ^__^
I'd also be interested to know how it's received by anime cel collectors across the world.
Was much of the artwork made available to fans 'in the day' or was it largely destroyed at the time because post-production work wasn't deemed 'sought after'?
Out of the gloom a voice said unto me;
"Smile and be happy, things could be worse".
So I smiled and was happy
and behold;
things did get worse...

Let me tell you a tale of woe...

So, the Nakano Mandarake in Tokyo was selling FoD cels for around 500 yen each in their massive collections of bargain bins. I bought three cels and gave them to Weyrlady (who was living in Japan at the time). When she shipped them back to the USA, the whole package was mysteriously "lost" in transit. So some postal worker now has her cels.

But if you ever visit Japan, be sure to stop by Nakano and get some good deals!

Saved search didn't notify me either.... I've learned the saved search system an be unreliable, so I tend to just manually search eBay these days for things that are high on my list.

This are not as popular as The Last Unicorn with most fans but I really like the feature....so they are typically less than The last Unicorn but harder to find due to its popularity.
