Ah, I just found my account details! I haven't been there since March 2006 but the login still worked. My name's KraftyK on Gaia and the site has got a lot bigger since I saw it last.
I've only got 165 gold so I can't even afford to buy clothes so my character isn't much to look at. Part of me wants to invest more time in this online world but with all the other things I'm into, I can't do that.
Still, like you ladies have said, it's nice to know that they're other adults on there- especially Betarians!

Out of the gloom a voice said unto me;
"Smile and be happy, things could be worse".
So I smiled and was happy
and behold;
things did get worse...

I used to be obsessed with Gaia. Haven't been there in ages tho. It was quite a small community, barely with any rules to abide by or anything. I'm sure it's much different now. I got turned onto it when I saw an ad for their site inside a Street Fighter comic, maybe even when DreamWave was still around (not sure tho).

LOL, yeah, same here! I'm almost curious enough to log on and find out.jcaliff wrote:I bet a lot of my donation letters are worth quite a bit now.

Technically they can. Because they own the pixelated items and since you sign their TOS that says you can't sell the items for real money.duotrouble wrote:That's strange. I use to be big into the Gaia Breedables, but real life got too hectic with planning a wedding and finally moving into the new house that I dropped off for awhile.

Yeah they are fairly strict about the black market pixels. NeoPets is even worse, if they even suspect you are doing anything Neo related for real money or even game points they will freeze the account. They will even ban you if you code a lookup for someone and that person sends you an item or even just points. Gaia is much more relaxed. they let you "sell" artwork and lookups to people for gaia gold, but ebaying a dark halo is a massive no no

To me too.

The Three Laws of Robotics:
1. A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

Because you don't 'own' the item. the way the TOS reads is that you're just using them so you have no right to profit off the item other than selling it for gaia gold. What gaia really has problems with is people buying botted gold on ebay.wELCOME cONSUMER wrote:Wow, things on Gaia really have changed then. People were openly selling donation items for real money on the site back when I was an active user. But the community was pretty small then. I guess it makes sense, but if someone's willing to buy an item, why stop them?

Well, yeah, I know they can stop you from selling their stuff. I wasn't thinking about that. The way I read this was that Gaia banned this person and then when the second person bought from them they got banned as well. Guess my mind went complicated instead of staying simple.bran-chan wrote:Technically they can. Really nice to see so many beta Gaians.

Okay! Yeah, I'm more for this than ever after yesterday. I went into a puzzle room that only had one other person. The last time I did that was great. The two of us just played. Yesterday was a different story.
I noticed kanji appeared in the chat. Having no idea what it said, I continued to build my puzzle. Next thing I see is "do you talk?" What happened to hi? Maybe that's what the kanji said but I didn't have a clue so I said hi and that I didn't notice her talking. Seriously, there's no sound alert to tell you someone typed and I was there for the puzzle. I get very intense on my games.
Eventually, we had a full house and she was bitching that no one was chatting and finally left after grilling me some. She searched my username after I attempted to blow her off with "I'm new." So I searched her username. She's 17. No wonder she didn't have any people skills.
Anyway, I found it hysterical that after she left everyone started chatting. Once you get the rude person out of the room, everything's fine.
