Did they finish filming his scenes? I wonder if the film will even come out. I hope it does, because he looked brilliant in the role (even though it apparently consumed him on some level).
By the by, here are some other unsung Ledger performances...
Monsters Ball
10 Things I Hate About You
The Four Feathers
Heath Ledger R.I.P.

Some of them do, I think.

The Three Laws of Robotics:
1. A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

TDK wrapped-up shooting last November (with a few pick-up shots in early December). It's in post-production now with a scheduled release for July 2008. And yes, he had apparently started taking Ambien while working on set due to the fact that he was only getting around 2 hours of sleep per night. It seems that this role might have been a bit stressful.blueheaven wrote:Did they finish filming his scenes? I wonder if the film will even come out. Ledger was actually currently working on Terry Gilliam's new project "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus". That had not finished filming - hence my above comment.

I seriously can not believe that I didn't even know he was one of the main characters of this movie!blueheaven wrote:I watched the commentary by Gilliam on Brothers Grimm. He was really impressed with Ledger and his dedication to a role.

Sad news. His best work had yet to come. You could tell he was really setting himself up to be an amazing craftsman in the industry. To see the contrast in his versatility as Jacob Grimm, a clumsy Clark Gable-esque romantic, and then the visceral performance he will no doubt give as the Joker.
Ledger was too young to die.
They say he was sick with pneumonia and found asleep with sleeping pills nearby. Hard to say what was going on but I can't believe he committed suicide. However, what was he thinking?
Truer words have never been spoken. I'm not going to derail this thread with my thoughts about Gilliam, but you are right on Lance. Right on.transmet wrote:Terry Gilliam is cursed.

Poor guy, so talented and young.
I feel so sorry for his lil girl he left behind

I know a few ppl question why someone so
ontop of his game and career could have possibly
committed suicide but if anyone on this thread has
had serious insomnia or severe depression--
you probably are aware the pills sometimes heighten your emotions.

I could see how he'd easily slip up and take more than needed
(that is if it wasn't intentional)
I read somewhere the Joker role had particularly
weighed on him stress-wise.

I said "unsung performances." Brokeback was certainly not unsung. Great film.Ms. Poe wrote:Where was his most famous role to date, "Brokeback Mountain", on your list Brian ;P~!?

Such a sad sad fate...He was a great actor...
By the way, here is what years of inbreeding within the context of religious nuttery will do to people...
