Funny funny emoticon, lancemet!! I'm a recent Foxfire convert, so I'm feelin' the love.
I have no idea if there is a limit on bookmarks or what the limit might be in IE, keropi... but it staggers my imagination to think of how many you must have if you're worried about that!!
hey terence,
all kidding aside, theoretically the only limit on how many links you can save would be the size of your hard disk as i don't think IE puts a limit on the number of links. i assume you are opening all the links at once, so i'm guessing the slow down would be dependent on your processor speed as the cpu needs time and ram to open all your links. lastly, i haven't been on a windows system in 7 years, so just call it an old educated guess.
^ Karen and GB are both correct. The links are saved on your HD.
To illustrate how much you'd have to have to fill your HD take this example. A link generally is 4 KB. Converting 4 KB to MB would equal roughly 0.003906. Converting that to GB would equal 3.81445313 × 10-6. So even if you were to fill a 20 GB HD (very low for nowadays) You would need an insane amount of links.
Heres a real example. To fill almost 1 GB worth of links you would need more then 250,000 links (to be precise it would only fill 0.953 GB but I rounded up)
Now it may be slow loading because of your computer, or perhaps other tasks you have open that could be bogging your system down. Hope this helped.

Go to "C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\" and hover your cursor above "Favorites" and the pop-up tab should show you how many KB's in links your using.
Thanks for the suggestions and info everyone. It's not bogging my computer down or anything. It's just that there's an annoyingly long pause when I open up that Auctions Folder. Sometimes it seems to take 5-6 seconds. Then saving and deleting things from that folder is really slow too. I have a years worth of auction links in another link folder, but that folder isn't slow like the one I first mentioned.
The other folder is probably faster since I have links broken down into smaller folders inside of that folder.

Hmm....I didn't know if that was normal or a larger than average number.

Definitely should help speed it up by organizing those auction links into separate folders. [/quote]
Since I discovered this "problem", I've been trying to keep up on my housekeeping involving the links. It's an ongoing problem and it has to be dealt with on a regular basis.

Bah... I recently imported all of my current bookmarks into IE favorites (still use explorer for hotmail and yahoo mail) and now understand what your going through. Even with all my categories and sub-categories broke down into separate folders, it still takes 10-20 seconds to initiate the favorites window. I'm not so impressed with IE 7 for XP - almost wish I could downgrade back to IE 6.
Coincidentally I'm now having problems with my saved auction photo folder. Last night I accidentally hit the wrong button and now about 15-20 percent of my photos show the wrong thumbnail photo.
If I click the photo the correct photo is still shows up in large form, but the thumbnail photos are mismatched with photos from other items in the same folder. If I click the photo, choose "properties" and hit "okay", the correct thumbnail photo will reload, but this is a pretty annoying bug.
Hitting "Refresh folder" does nothing. Each thumbnail has to be individually corrected. That is...if I actually felt like doing that. It's not that big a deal, but it is annoying.
