What are Offical Repo. Cels???

I have been a cel/genga collector for almost 5 years already and I still have no idea what Offical Repo. cels are?

What I do know is there cels made from animes that are CG

But who makes them?

How many are there of the same one?

Can someone please tell me more about them I'm interested

Did you do a search for this topic? I know we've had it a few times.

But here's the short answer as I've recently sold a mate to the one you linked.

Repro cels are mass produced cels that were not used in the production of the anime but were produced by the animation company. Now "mass produced" may sound like there are tons out there but that's not true. Some companies will only make 5 while others will make 10, 25 or 150 or really any number they want too. The Gravitation repros have 50 made while I think the Narutos have 5.

These reproduction cels are not exclusive to CG shows as Fushigi Yuugi and Hunter X Hunter have repros of their "more famous" scenes.

Thou for some reason the numbers began to vary slightly
towards the end of the 1st tv series. (i say they couldnt count lol)
But generally 5 is the magic number of repros they made of each shot like they did for Bleach.
(Unless its the latest Shippuden hanken repros. Those i think as someone recently mentioned in another thread are 10. ^_^)

Yeah, I was probably thinking about all those Shippudden hankens that have recently come out. I edited my post to make that 5. I needed to edit anyway as I put 150 on Gravitation when I really meant 50.

So there are only 5 Repo. cels of each shot for Naruto that just makes it more fun finding the cel you want fun and expensive

So Repo. cels aren't only made for CG anime I didn't know that

One more question is there some sort of list saying what Repo. cels they made or will make for Naruto? How do we know what is out already and what is being made?

A beta member named lys came up with a great
database-- a Library of whats come out for Naruto
reproduction cels.

However, he hasn't been around in a long time and the
gallery is outdated by about 4-5 lotteries.
It is a pretty good resource for the new Naruto collectors
that dont know what the older repro's look like.

As far as whats going to come out, you can check
beginning of the month on Studio Pierrot's repro lottery page
to see what screengrabs are being made to repros for
the month.

Just to clarify so your not confused by the numbers I gave,
only the Shippuden hanken repros are 10 each.
The Shippuden series repro cels are still made like
the 1st tv series-- limited to 5.

Well I can say from my experience s I would say there is more than 5. I dont think we in U.S.A. would even see them at that number. Seems to me if theres one your after its more of a waiting game as they eventually turn up somewhere. Some are much tougher than others depending on the popularity of the character. for example girls love Sasuke so those are gone as fast as they are listed. Gara is tough and Orochimaru is almost impossible. I just thought there may be someone out there who knows ! It would be great to know!

It does seem like there are more than 5 repros made. I search the artwork on RS for certain characters, and see quite a few of the same cel, and chances are there are a few more of the same cel somewhere out there. I've never even seen an Orochimaru cel, but I've only been collecting since Nov. It would be nice if Pierrot would make a book of all of the repros made for each series.

cels and OMGZ ... some don't pull their scans down
after they've sold something.

Sorry I wasnt trying to hurt your feelings just dont believe your numbers are correct! Do you know for sure that 5 are made ? Like I said I just thought somebody might know and I appreciate the responses but 5 of each is hard to believe . I think just from rubberslug gallerys alone you could find 5 of 1 repro .

Oh didnt read your news flash since Ive purchased from quite a few members I indeed did know that they dont always remove their cels once sold . However there are many stores and sites that still carry these repros I know of 1 that had 3 of one cel itself .
