It’s more how well the ending fits with the story, than what kind of emotion it evokes. :shrug

I liked the ending of “Dallos”, and the ending of “Wind Named Amnesia”, because they left undecided what was ultimately “right” or “wrong”, showed the flaws in every possible decision that could be made, and demonstrated both the good and evil in the nature of Man.

I enjoyed the ending of “Wings of Honneamise”, because it showed Man’s ability to rise above the limitations of his own inborn nature.

The ending of "MD Geist"amused me, because his actions were a-typical for Anime, yet believable for his character.

And I thought the ending of "Berserk" was good, because the Anime had shown Guts’ entrenched, enchanted vision of Griffith’s persona, but ended with his ultimate disillusionment in Griffith’s actual character.

I like Anime that end happily. There are too many bad things going on in the world to have your Anime be depressing too.
