I started my collection with a wishlist cel. Honestly, I knew nothing about anime and had never even heard of Inuyasha or Sesshoumaru before acquiring this cel.

At the time I was looking for collectables from Howl's Moving Castle and Spirited Away. I wanted the cel because it was so pretty, and when I showed it to my husband, he said I should make an offer. Few days later Sesshoumaru was mine, much to my husband's surprise! I didn't realize he was only joking. It will always be one of my favorite cels.

I have a couple of items on my perpetual wishlist. The first is a Chihaya with Wings from Earthian. The second would be some sketches of Howl. Somewhere in some vault at the Ghibli Museum they are being held captive. Liberate them I say! Oh, and a few of the hotter Ai No Kusabi cels would make my day.

My first real wishlist cel was this cel of Sawa from Kite.

Ever since I'd seen the OVA I'd had this cel on my list, but I never imagined that I would find one - I figured all the amazing cels like this were owned by Japanese collectors that didn't have public galleries.

Then one day, a year after I'd first seen the OVA, I saw a sequence mate cel in a Rubberslug gallery which sort of re-ignited my desire in finding it. I figured that if this person could somehow manage to snag a beauty like this, so could I. I searched feverishly for ages (this was before I knew about YJ)

Then another year and a half later (2007) after giving up looking for it, my Sawa cel popped up at Asylum Anime. I sat looking at the pic for a minute or two, not believing what I was seeing. Then I snapped out of it and fired of an e-mail to order it.

I had been collecting cels for about four years at that point, and had sort of stalled (Only buying three cels since 04). This cel is what got me back into collecting - and what made me realise that sometimes this hobby jumps out at you and yells "Surprise!"

Sorry for the long read :^^:

Oh so easy.
My first 'wishlist cel' was this one -

Usagi and Mamoru from Sailor Moon

When I first started all I wanted was a cel of Usagi and Mamoru. And when I saw this for sale, it was so perfect. My first week in and there it was. I was so excited to finally get this cel into my hands.

Never in a million years did I ever expect to find an Episode 25 Hilda, let alone afford one. But I did, and I could. And she will never leave me. This is still the only wishlist cel, that physically made it to my wishlist and and was found. I have since taken it down to revamp it... but never got around to putting it back up. >_>

From my understanding, old-timers like me can jump in to. We just have to think way back to when we first started what our first true wishlist was, right?
Right. I was trying to start a thread that would get us geezers thinking back to when we were greenears.

I spent part of the morning looking through that set of "first nine cels" and thinking about those days ... and, in response to another thread, opening them all up to vent the gasses. Ah ... some of them still have a trace of "that new cel smell"!

Thanks, everyone, for contributing!

I believe my first true wishlist cel I won was this one of Inuyasha from episode 69

friends' image of "the boyfriend"

Several beta members were very kind and didn't bid on this one b/c they knew how much I wanted it. I can never thank them enough. I will always cherish this cel. :D

Now, the cel that has been a wishlist longest which I obtained recently is this one of ROSAT Mirai Trunks

Another beta member was kind enough to sell this one to me. Sometimes wishes do come true if you are patient. :)

My first true "wishlist" would have to be this cel

Never thought in a million years that it would be obtainable and for a good price too.

This was actually one of the very first FB sketches that I bought.
But, if I didn't get it then, it would definitely been on my wishlist.

I really love this sketch.

My first wishlist was a gorgeous cel of Sesshoumaru. When I first started collecting back in 2000, Inuyasha just came out. So, when I saw "bad" cels of Sesshoumaru going for over $500, I thought it was hopeless to find good ones of him. But, sure enough, some beautiful shots came into my possession just a couple years later. Just had to be patient. :-)
