Art forgers-- busted!!

since it is in regards to artwork being forged
and sold on ebay.

Thanks for this Shampoo - was definitely an interesting read.

Ahh, the modern age. Because these were being sold as limited prints to begin with (at $50,000 a pop

), this scam just seems to lack any poetry.

Always been a huge fan of Orson Welles' "F for Fake". Now there was a true artist.

And it makes you wonder when youre buying cels/sketches if they are the real deal

If only they spent that talent on being original.......

Most were copies of original limited-edition prints.

So I guess they caught them when they found the original print and the fake one and both had the same number????

For that I would just buy half of the real thing....is a print worth that much????You can just make more later (Lucky are the people that can legally make more prints

The original 'limited edition print' would have been inked by the artist himself and then signed - as opposed to a machine manufactured print created for public consumption. In other words, it is the real thing - a piece of art that was designed to be a print.

...Well, unless it's a forgery.

These are prints but they are made by the artist (Miro etc) by himself. Basically they go to the art studio and they use machine and create prints (some might order a studio but basically the artist direct closely what they wants to do). So they are print but basically the artist creates plates themselves by scratching plates or draw onton stones directly. So they are prints but not like printed by xerox or manufactured by huge amounts (actually they cannot make so many because of suration of plates or inks of stones) if they are authentic.
