Would you pay $1.66 for INSTANT subbed Anime?

Would you pay $1.66 for an Immediate subbed episode of anime? Image

You get the first episode free! And the subs come out pretty much immediately after it airs in japan. Image Immediate subs! That's pretty nice!

Gonzo's doing it. For $1.99 you can buy 100points.

http://www.bosttv.com/gonzo/season-pass/

12 episodes is $19.90

and 24 episodes is $39.80

I've watched the first episode of Blassreiter and it seems like Ghost in the shell with a bike. I definitely will watch the second episode!

The Tower of Druaga was kind of cheesy until the very end, but I'll be watching it because the first episode promises that the anime won't be cheesy. The first episode is a parody and it's funny, lol....

Would you pay $1.66 per episode if they give you the first few episodes for free? Image

I know I'd pay $3.99 for an episode of code geass translated right about now! lol! Image

you know.. when I was quickly scrubbing thru and
speed-reading
I had to re-read your post 2ice..
the 1st thought I had was 8O

"wow subgroups are picking up Japanese gonzo p0rn now?
damn...how would that work??? wouldnt it be
boring if you had to read the dialogue since its subbed?"

/hmm

LOL!
:hitting:

As for your question.. I'm a cheapskate!
:tongue
I dont watch anime very much so I can wait it out till
theres enough sub groups that have done multiple
versions. Then if I like it enough I always buy the
official boxset later on. ^_^

Lol... Didn't you know, The subs are super important in hentai! Image

There is a Ipod and PsP downloadable version.... that would save me a ton of time to transcode the files to an Ipod or PsP.

Really I'm to the point that I don't really need the Dubs... If I watch the Subs first, I like the Subs much better.

If they include a PsP versions I'd pay the $1.66 per episode to carry the anime around in my pocket. So far the subs are top notch, I don't know much japanese, but the dialogue is coherent and seems accurate!

I wouldn't. I don't have time to watch the DVDs and dls I have now. Why would I need to add to that pile?

I figure I'm paying for cable internet and dling something for free not available in my country. Once it's available, I buy the official DVDs if I liked the series. Otherwise, I view it as watching something on cable.

Well, not from Gonzo, I don't think they have anything I'm interested in, that I know of.

It would all depend, though. Is the show old and unlikely to be licensed? That's when I would consider it. As it is I'm not interested in 99% of new anime these days. Plus it would be a lot cheaper than investing in the R2 DVDs as a last resort.

I can't say I'd never pay for an anime download... However, at $19.90 for 12 downloads, I'd rather pay ten bucks more and get the first 13 episode DVD set of One Piece at the Rightstuf Funimation sale (I'll probably be doing exactly that in the next few days).

When I pay for a game or program or anime, I like to get a physical package. Funimation's pretty job with Mushishi is the main reason I've already bought some of the DVD's. I normally wait for sets and bargains, and I try to only spend on must have shows.

I would, just to see whether or not the series is something I want to watch. If I liked it enought, I'd want the physical media though.

$1.99 per episode would be fine by me. The problem becomes what you end up getting for that amount. The price is not the problem.

I used to rent raw anime tapes for $4.00 per tape when the Japanese tapes often had only had 2-3 episodes on them (or one episode per tape in the case of OVAs). But I ended up with a raw tape copy from paying that much. The copy I got might have been in mono and the copy might have been a copy of a so-so original rental copy, but I still ended up with something that would last for a long time.

With this new system, do I have to worry about codec failure and DVD+Rs failure six or seven years from now? Some of my older CDs no longer play properly because they've degraded.

I heard those downloads are not in HD broadcast quality because the anime producers were worried about angering the original Japanese broadcast stations.
