What would you do for a 13 year old boy's birthday?

Post by Goldknight »

I have my god son in a couple weeks and will have him on his 13th birthday. I need to think of an awesome gift and something special to do for his birthday. I'm stumped and am asking for help from beta members. I have always treated him like my own so money isn't really an issue. He's a wuss though when it comes to anything adventurous which includes amusement parks, indoor skydiving, ziplining, etc. He's is baseball and karate. Loves anime (Naruto, One Piece). I gave him an ipod mini at christmas time and a laptop on his last birthday. I'm desperate as he is no help in coming up with a birthday list. I thought about taking him to a Rockies game since he likes baseball, but if anyone is keeping up with the MLB you'd know watching the Rockies would be as much fun as watching paint dry. :hurt: We've done the go-cart thing and the all those places before.

So in short I need a kick ass gift and something fun to do with him that would be special. HELLLPPPP! :bow :bow :bow

MY IDEAS:
1).What about tickets to Anime EXPO '08!!!!!!!!
2).Maybe membership to some karate place?
3). A camara (maybe he likes taking pics?)
4).Take to lazer-tag
5).Take to Chucky-Cheese (I love that place!!!)

I'll try to think of more stuff....^_^

Maybe a music concert of some sort? A kick-ass collection of anime DVDs and/or Mangas?

...thats about all I can think of. I know stuff I'd love, but I'm far from being a 13yr old boy. :P

Even though hes a wuss I'd recommend taking him to an amusement park. I used to hate rollar coaster etc with a passion but when i went on 1 I loved it and since then haven't looked back. At the very least if he decides not to go on them there is the water park there.

or

Paintballing is also lots of fun, nothing beats flying paint at 80+ MPH :D

Xbox 360? Wii? PSP? Bose Docking Station for iPod?

Or, you could open a Scottrade account online and let him pick out some cool undervalued stocks and teach him about investing/trading/saving (and then he can cash out and buy the Xbox when his Godmother isn't looking).

It just dawned on me the perfect gift, its unique, and not many 13 year olds get to experience it. Besides 13 is enter into early man-hood after all.

How about buying his first lap dance?

:wack to EoP. Bad EoP, bad :wack

All great ideas y'all. I know he has some hand held video game system he likes, but all the big name ones his Mom has always been hesitant on getting since he's doing so well in school. This kid is incredible. Straight A's every semester, class president, drama director, black belt, baseball star on his team, it's nuts. He LOVES to read. I thought about doing part of his present as a gift certificate to The Tattered Cover, but ever since it moved here in CO it just isn't as impressive as it used to be. I like the money idea rather than the gift certificate since he'd be in charge of it. Like you said he's entering that age. Not only is his birthday giving me trouble, but what to do to entertain him for two weeks. 8O I've got him for quite awhile. :sweatdrop I love your ideas on his birthday, but please don't stop. Keep 'em coming. I could use as many as possible. :bow :bow

I don't know if you have converted him to being a Av's fan but you might see about if there are any team functions coming up like a rookie camp after the June 20th NHL Draft or a team draft party (normally only for season ticket holders).

At that age , getting a chance to meet players up close at a relaxed event would be memorable and I have found NHL players to be much more fan friendly than other sports.

I had to ask my hubby for his opinion on this one, as I am basically clueless with kids. :emb

Some suggestions he had are to take him out to play billiards or to a video arcade. We have tons of fun places that have both here in Mass and up in NH.

It sounds like he has a good variety of interests. Maybe you can take him to a special exhibit at a museum. The MFA Boston hosts different exhibits frequently, and they are always fabulous. Maybe a trip to the aquarium (if you have one), or a fun day in the city doing something touristy. Scott and I take guided walking/boat/other tours frequently, even though we live here and have done it a million times before. It's always a fun time.

Maybe give a check to your city or states website to see what different events are going on. There's always fun stuff to do in the summer!

Have fun!

My little brother is going to be 13 this year actually... he is nothing like your kid. LOL He likes World of Warcraft and card games(like Yugioh) but hates sports. He got hit in the face with a baseball a few years ago and that was the end of that. LOL

I think a concert would be cool.. i wanted to take my little brother to one last year but my mom was against it. I will try for this year. :D LOL Clothes... this is that age when things like clothes matter and so forth. that Chuckecheese place.. he may be too old for that. There may be a Main Event or Dave and Busters in your area that is better for older kids.

Maybe you can buy him some "bling"? LOL 8)
