:sweatdrop
Well...you have so ask for permission if you post their image..But for Japan collectors I guess you could post a link to their items (since their gallery is online) but to be safer, I'd try to ask who I could....

Actualy I have a ton of free time...believe me.... :P

What about a registry with just RARE anime series? The super hard to finds....That should narrow the list down....

But I guess what you guys suggested is a good start, the whole list of galleries idea. Tough that will be massive too...not as massive as the cel idea....But huge none-the-less.....

I guess that a good idea would be to just post the links on an MSN group...since you don't pay for hosting services....Unless anyone knows what other program we could use to generate said list....

Interesting explanation. Do you know any robots who pay for hosting services? As a robot I have no need for money.

The Three Laws of Robotics:
1. A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

I like the suggestion of individual series sites.

I had mentioned to another FB collector that it would be cool to have something like a FB online "museum".

I'm still working on building my own website, I would have no trouble adding links to the galleries of other collectors. However FB is a strange case since many people can't display their art.

The idea of making something interactive though sounds way too difficult.

It would be cool to see an FB museum. But why can't people post their stuff???? :? Because they are gifts that where not supposed to be sold? Because the previous person stole them from the studio? Or because they where supposed to be destroyed??? It's sad how this artwork must remain hidden :l

lol Not me..I believe in your dream...And one day when I have a ton of free time, I could help build it.....But I'm trying to buy another Sharpei (for my dad's b-day) So when I have time I can help....
Maybe displayable pics and sequence numbers for rare anime, and links for the rest and more popular ones

In a nut shell, yes.

When a lot of the sketches were originally sold they were done so under a strict rule that they would never be displayed. As they were resold, some people continued to hold their buyers to the same rule. I have some that I can't show for that very reason. There are some people that probably have great collections that we will never see at all.

It makes me so sad. /sob

Yeah, the studio told everyone to destroy their sketches. Some people didn't and sold theirs. If they are displayed and found, those people could get in trouble such as possibly losing their jobs.

Fruits Basket sadly is not the only anime that this is true for. I know Full Metal Panic is the same as well as several other anime. I don't own any of these kinds of sketches because quite frankly - if I don't have them organized in my own gallery, I forget I have them. X| :^^:

I haven't read one thing as a personal attack against you so sorry if you took all this wrong. As I stated early on, it sounds like a great idea until you really start thinking about all the implications. You can't just look on the positive side when you start a project. You have to look at the negatives too and weigh both sides. In this case, I personally see the negatvies out-weighing the positives - not by much but still doing it.

I'm approaching a decade of cel collecting. (Man, I just made myself feel old. X| ) I know there are plenty of others who've been around longer. But the bulk of us "old timers" are slowing down. We've dealt with many wonderful collectors such as those here but unfortunately many of us have also seen the darkside. I had a good streak until very recently. My gallery is currently protected until I think my "trouble maker" has moved on. And sadly for your idea, this corresponded at exactly the wrong time since the "harrassment" is about a cel of limited sequence mates. X| :x

Please no pms regarding info on said collector. Should the issue become escalated, I guarantee everyone here will hear about it.
Can you hear this fangirl squee?!

yeah, i was just kidding about getting punched, and the stomach was a metaphor for my idea of the registry. i know it seemed like i thought it would be easy, but i realize (to some extent through my undergraduate computer programming classes) that it would take a little time, and maybe less so if you were to somehow implement the registry through the rubberslug format. it did seem like people have a lot of reservations about the idea.
